“The unexpected happened. An accident left me with 2 broken ankles and a crushed Tibial plateau. No weight bearing at all for 6 weeks. Jim Wiginton was dealt a broken arm. After surgery and rehab we were able to be home, but how would we take care of ourselves? Laima Aleksa , my friend, Zumba instructor, and Social Service Worker with Cantata Adult Life Services knew exactly how to help us. She informed our mutual friends what had happened and when they asked how they could help, Laima suggested that if they would want to contribute to a fund set up at Cantata Home Services, Jim and I could use Cantata Home Services that would be beneficial to us. We decided that help with meals was our major concern. Laima arranged for Dan Urban, Director of sales and Marketing with Cantata Adult Life Services, to contact me to explain the procedure. Dan called and explained the process and answered all of my questions. Dan emails the menu for lunch and dinner for the next week on Wednesdays. We email back what meals we would like to have for the next week. Jim and I have been ordering 2 dinners for 1 or 2 times a week . These meals are not only tasty, well balanced and healthy, but are also delivered to our door by a Cantata employee with a smile! Once our gift account is used, we are able to set up our own account to continue service we might want. This gift has been a blessing, a comfort and very important to our healing process and well being.“

“As my father aged his main goal was to remain in his home as long as possible. In order to help satisfy his request we knew it was time for 24/7 in-home help. We reached out to Touching Hearts and met with John. John assured us that they would be partners in the process and that he would find the best possible match for us. I found that to be spot-on If the match did not fit or we had other concerns he would find a suitable replacement. Over the course of 2 years we did request a few changes. John provided an immediate response and a new caregiver was provided. In the time we worked with Touching Hearts we were never left uncovered if one of the caregivers was ill or had a conflict. Communication was quick and the replacement provided. We reached a point where staying in the home was no longer possible but the transition provided by Touching Hearts provided us with the opportunity keep our dad in his house a few more years. “Having past experience with The Key caring for an elderly parent we called them when I unexpectedly needed some care following surgery. An excellent decision! Nancy and Gail took the time to explain options and respond quickly to what became a changing situation. The home health aides were all pleasant, competent, and respectful. They offered assistance as needed, and made the experience of being dependent less difficult. In particular Sophie went above and beyond to help identify solutions to problems, write up a care plan, and made getting help with bathing and personal care pleasant rather than embarrassing.“

“Im in a mobility devuce...a scooter...and the halleats and doorways were way too nsrrow. I had great difficulty maneuverung around and getting into exam rooms. The layout is very handicap unfriendly and there are no power doors. The ekevator eas also a bit difficult because the shape of the elevator had the long side perpendicular to the entry, so i had to turn into it unstead if just pulling firward. Many disabled folk have diffuculty twisting making backing up a blind maneuver. If i could pull in straight and back up straught, that would be much easier that having to back up while turning.“
