Even though we didn't call them, they came out at the request of a tree trimming business that was doing work on my daughter's property. They didn't have the courtesy to knock on the door and tell her that they were doing work in her back yard. When I later confronted the ELM employee and advised him that he was trespassing and should have told my daughter what he was doing. He stated that he didn't need to do so, since it was legal and they did it all the time. With all the turmoil in the country, it's a wonder that he hasn't been shot yet, going on people's property without their permission. Poor way to conduct business.

Please don’t ask my child, an obvious minor, permission to enter my backyard. Also, it’d be nice to have a notice explaining why you needed to access my backyard and have contact information on the notice.

Don't expect mothers, home alone with their children, to answer the door to a strange man who shows up. If you're going to be working in people's yards, provide a heads-up by either a mailer or a door sign. In our neighborhood, we've had men appear at the door, pretending to be employees of DirectTV. Then, turning out to not be with DirectTV. Their scoping who's home during the day and who's not. Proper communication is direly important in these more challenging times.
