I was on vacation in Hawaii, and thought about getting my hair done since everywhere in good ol' California was closed due to COVID. I hadn't gotten my hair done since November of 2019, so I was due for a cut at the very least. After perusing Yelp reviews of different hair salons in the area, I came across Dorene Furtado's work. She had pictures up of the exact hair color and style that I wanted, so I knew I had to contact her right away. Booking with Dorene was easy and seamless through text, and she was able to fit me in on New Years Eve! The salon itself is in the Kaka'ako district. I've only ever been there a couple of times, so driving past all the mural decorated warehouses was so nice during the day. You can definitely see how unique and vibrant of a neighborhood it is. Parking was super easy; Nueve Salon has their own parking lot, and location wise is very easy to find. The salon is clean, bright, and well-kept, and I felt lucky to have been the only person in that day. Dorene took her time to explain what she was going to do, and ensured that she was able to execute exactly what I wanted without damaging my hair. After a couple of hours in the chair, some highlights, and a cut later, I felt lighter and like I had finally had some self care time (a rarity with kids). 100% the best for hair. I've been going to Abe for over a year and he took me from brunette to platinum gradually and easily and I'm obsessed with it He takes the best care of his clients hair and runs a gorgeous salon full of cool people.

It's a really cool & beautiful salon and spa! I had my haircut by Abe, he did an amazing job, he's professional and friendly. There's also a beautiful spa side that you can get your eyebrows microbladed, facials, lash lift, waxing & a Brazilian. Very clean and great location with free parking in town!
