My son had a FANTASTIC experience at Thunder Road camp!
There are members of our Village that beautifully reinforce the values we want Katie and Jack to feel are normal for all humans. Thunder Road Music Studios’ owners Clyde and Sally Ogden, and their many professional partners are some of these people. I wish I could find all the words to describe the magic Clyde and Sally conjure during these weeks, but I can’t. I attend the concerts given at the end of the camp with the sole intention of soaking up every ounce of joy oozing out of his fellow campers, the parents, and (most joyous of all) the counselors and interns. Jack has been attending their summer camps since he was seven years old. He will be fourteen in August. Regardless of all the other camps Jack has tried, this is one of only two that he insists on attending every year; sometimes twice in one summer. Jack is a passionate percussionist and also an estute lover of all things music, and here he is again - back at Thunder Road for his seventh season. I love coming to the concerts and seeing the interactions between the older musicians and the younger ones; the counselors and the interns; Clyde, Sally, and all the kids. There is a mutual respect and genuine love that is palpable to those of us attuned to the magic. This go around Jack learned to play the bass guitar and of course jammed out on a drum solo (that I did not video because I was so transfixed watching him perform), with his band - The Killer Crocs. Jack will return to Thunder Road for another week in July. I’m so grateful for the passion, dedication, and love the Ogden’s model and expect of everyone affiliated with their studio, which is a gift to our community. #MoreLikeThem #MyHerosToday Thunder Road
