I have completed close to 340 classes since June 2019 (I barely attended classes for most of 2022 and 2023) and have a passport membership, so I can go to any CP in the country (for when I visit family outside of SoFla). I say this to say that I've been to several studios across several years, and I can honestly say that my time here this summer has been some of my best experiences in pilates. Keisha is so wonderful-- she is not only an instructor, she is a true teacher and makes all the difference from other studios.
I don't know what her background is, but her knowledge of anatomy, technique, and body awareness is outstanding. I had unexpected back surgery in December and returned to pilates in June. She knew exactly how to modify, where to place a body part or how far to go (or not go), what moves would help you specifically.... I took a class with her last night and initially thought some of the moves were silly. However, I quickly realized that this was a masterclass in MICROMOVEMENTS that were designed to strengthen the pelvic region, low back, wrists, and a specific part of the shoulders. I was WORKED... OUT when I left there and my little watch said I burned over 300 cal in 1 class!
There are level 1.5 classes that my friend and I had taken with other instructors, elsewhere, and when we got to her level 1 class, we felt like everything else was just a warm-up. Her focus on technique makes all the difference! And she says it, "Pilates doesn't get easier as time goes on, it gets harder because now you know how to do it correctly." I have always appreciated good technique above weight, resistance, reps; however, because of my back surgery, good technique is vital to my spinal recovery. Sarah, Marlene, and especially Keisha have been a blessing in my return to an exercise I love.
