I typically dread going in for my eye appointments bc it’s the longest process, to then be told my prescription is the same and now i need to pay $450 for glasses and contacts.But this was truly impressive Dr. Jay and the staff there are fantastic! I called Dr. Barnhorst’s office after searching on Google and it was the best thing that happened to me.His staff are friendly, polite, caring, and put me at ease. Julie, the surgical coordinator, was so great, thorough, immediate attention to details, and had me booked for surgery in no time.She’s keeper. “When i first visit Dr Gulani, ten years ago, I was having problem reading, he solve the problem on my left eye in five minutes with a LASER PLASTIQUE technology, since then no problem at all reading, no glasses for ten years, amazing.Days ago I went to DMV to renew my DL and I find out that my right eye was in trouble, the first thing I think was "CALL DR GULANI OFFICE" and make an appointment, so I did.After ten years i visit Dr Gulani again, now to check my right eye, and as always he explained everything the best way, Dr Gulani have the best and advance technique and ten year after he will solve my right eye problem.Dr Gulani and his staff are the best.“
“With a recent change in insurance, I had to choose a new eye doctor in network. I found an in network location near my work and decided to schedule my annual check at Deerwood Family Eyecare. There was a wait, I expected that but I did not expect the sincere concern for my wait time that the entire staff expressed. They made it clear that this was not normally the case, and I knew that to be true. Once in, I was given my initial test before I saw Dr. Shearer. My tester was engaging, excited and seemed to really love her work. Once Dr. Shearer came in, he asked me a bit about myself and explained how he was the longest tenured eye doctor in Jacksonville. Totally put me at ease. When I explained to him that I had referrals to a specialist in the past for "large cups" or possible glaucoma, he explained that he had those devices on hand and that those tests could be done same day with results. What a load off my mind. This was done immediately after my new prescription was finished. The other part that was extremely impressive is that when he was testing me for a new prescription, he would make me stop and blink before deciding "better one or better two". This made a huge difference. I never had this happen before and it was crucial. The other little extra he does is show you your current prescription and then the new one. The staff was all familiar with the insurance coverage, how it worked and made suggestions based on that. That was extremely helpful as insurance can be tough to navigate. What started out being an anxious visit to a new doctor ended up being a blessing. Highly recommend Deerwood and Dr. Shearer for anyone searching for an eye doctor.“

“I will be 57 in March, I had 20/50 vision when I went in. I have been wearing reading glasses for 12 plus years. I went in for a consultation, I was a candidate for Lasik. They told me that I would still have to wear readers for up close & mid range. I had it done. Honestly, it was a little unnerving during the procedure, Had to find my "Happy Place" They cut a flap in your eyes then use a laser to correct the vision. It doesn't hurt, just pressure. They warn you ahead of time what is going to happen. The staff is very friendly. I went back the next day for the follow up appointment. Unbelievable!!! I could see like I did many years ago. It's been 6 days since I had it done and I have not had to wear readers once. Granted, up close, small letters, I will need readers for that. Bu this is amazing!!!!! I can see again!!! I am typing this w/o glasses, something I could not do before. If you are in doubt, get checked to see if you can get it done. It is so worth i it!!!!!! I just wish I would have had it done sooner. Thank you so much to everyone involved, YOU ROCK!!!!“

“I cannot thank Dr. Potochick and the 5 Points Eye team enough for how they handled my eye emergency while I was in Jacksonville from out of town to deal with family medical issues. I received better and more thorough care by Dr. Potochick than I did by my optometrist back home.
