I have been a student at iYoga Delray Beach since 2014. I always wanted to love yoga as did a lot of my friends, but as a short person, I always found it uncomfortable. It turns out that Iyengar yoga is designed to accommodate all kinds of bodies and that the props and mentoring make it possible to get the benefit of most of the poses. The teachers are well trained, and helpful in making your individual practice beneficial. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the studio is a bright, clean place to learn. If you live anywhere near this studio, consider yourself extremely lucky to have such a valuable yoga being taught near you. The Iyengar discipline of yoga is invaluable to anyone with a human body! The senior teacher, Colleen, as well as all the teachers there, are very experienced and very attentive in making sure your alignment is correct which is so very helpful for relieving aches and pains due to unconscious ways we may hold our posture. If you practice other forms of yoga, this discipline will make sure you are doing it in an optimal way.Also, the studio is well equipped with all the props you need and there's plenty of parking available, too.
New to the area, I was thrilled to find a studio with teachers certified in the Iyengar yoga lineage. As a student of yoga for over 20 years (and a teacher for over 15 years), I appreciate the rigorous training required to achieve certification in the Iyengar lineage. I feel Iyengar certification is the gold standard for yoga instructors. It ensures a level of quality and consistency, based on the level of certification awarded. This "levels-based" certification structure, encourages teachers to continue to study and gain deeper insights. For new yoga students, I always recommend an Iyengar certified teacher, when available.
