“Shihan John Petrone is the best at what he does, Vee Arnis Jujitsu Street Self Defense! It is obvious his passion is to make sure none of his students are ever victimized. He makes it thorough yet simple. Weapons. Empty hand. Weapon defense. It's all there. I haven't seen anything else that makes this much sense, and as a smaller female, makes me feel that I will be successful should the need arise. For fitness, the HIT Kickboxing program is awesome. I tried several others in Colorado Springs, and this is hands down the best. He also uses combinations that are applicable to the street self defense class, so there is a seamless transition between the two. There is a reason that he has the same fitness kickboxing students for over 15 years, you never see the same class twice. I love my classmates. The classes are great. The people are great. “Great dojo with an almost family-like atmosphere. The best part: It's Iwama-ryu - actual, authentic Aikido. Aligned with the California Aikido Association (CAA, led by Patricia Hendricks Shihan), Sensei John Wiley, the dojo-cho (owner), does a very admirable job instructing. You'll not only practice the physical movements (joint locks, blocks, falls, etc.), but also aiki-ken (sword) and aiki-jo (staff) weapons, among other things. Although there are always improvements to be made, I'm quite happy to practice at this dojo. I recommend you check it out if you're inclined toward studying a traditional Japanese martial art.“
