“During the pandemic, I was looking for a fun activity that would be good for my health. I was drawn to Pamana Kali because they had online classes and they take a well-rounded approach that includes practical application, art, and culture. Guro Alvin, the founder, is a patient teacher that emphasizes practical application. He focuses on fine tuning simple techniques that work in live scenarios. He also structures his lesson plan in a way that facilitates neuroplasticity by constantly introducing new motor patterns during the exercises. This makes class a challenge after a long work day, but it's good for the ol' noggin! Kuya Eli is the instructor at the Long Beach location housed within Kubo LB on Atlantic Ave. The classes are small, which leads to lots of helpful individual attention. We mix it up and practice kali, silat, illustrisimo, and more. Kuya Eli is on the younger side and teaches with enthusiasm and humor, making the learning environment playful as well as challenging. If you're lookin for a fun and safe environment to learn the art of stick fighting, check out Pamana Kali!“
“Six blades is a great dojo. Especially for kids, in my experience. Professor and coaches are great, present and attentive. I’ve recommended thus place to 2 other families and they’re kids are learning and having a good experience. Good vibes, discipline, and hard work here. Check them out!“
“I 100% recommend this school... since in almost 2 years of training my children I have seen excellent sports and behavioral results as well. Teachers are extraordinary people who are dedicated to the sports development of all students.“
“Amazing academy, great environment and knowledgeable instructors for both the adults and children's program.“
“Truly the best TKD gym I've ever been to. Master Chung is amazing with teaching not only martial arts, but also discipline, respect of parents, and taking personal responsibility. My son's behavior and maturity has improved exponentially. I even started taking Taekwondo here, myself. I hadn't studied martial arts in about 9 years. But I've regained so much of my physical, mental, and spiritual strength working with Master Chung. My love for martial arts has been reignited! Gym is clean, easy parking, simple & organized process for sign up, payment, and belt tests.“
“Thank you Master Carranza Tae Kwon Do for the support you give to our champions, my children are happy to belong to your school, because you always motivate them to do their best, and they perceive your good vibes. My yellow belt son is motivated to follow in his black belt brother's footsteps. And I know that with your help he will achieve it. Thank you Master and may GOD bless you.“
“RHTKD recently changed ownership. They immediately remodeled and updated the dojang, making it more spacious, clean, and modern. Master Yi has been wonderful with my kids, and they love going to TKD! Master Yi works them incredibly hard, but they enjoy it so much that they don't even realize how hard they're working. He has a great energy about him, and has a perfect balance of kindness, mentorship, motivation, discipline, and authority. He has started teaching nunchucks, which my kids love, and has been increasing the curriculum in a positive way. We are very happy with the recent changes and look forward to seeing what else Master Yi has planned.“
“My daughter joined the studio months ago, the instructor is very nice with the kids, they learn a lot, and my girl has improved her self confidence and even her school scores! We are very happy with this place and the way kids enjoy the lessons and their time there. I would recommend it for sure.“
“My wife, three daughter and I have trained with Sensei Nick for more than three years and it have been an incredible learning experience and we are all better for it! The Kelly Family“
“This is the place to be, Sensei Gary Takemoto and all of the other Blackbelts here bring so much knowledge and hands on training, all in a respectful and professional environment. They are able to handle Judokas at all different skill levels at every practice due to the volume of Blackbelts to learn from. You'll get personalized attention so you can develop your skills at a pace that works for you. All this while still providing a close team / family environment. I can't wait until my son is old enough to join the team as well.“
“Nono's Karate assisted my son on all levels. My son also took private lessons, but the sport was just not for him. Sports take discipline and structure which karate has a great deal of and in today's world and that is very important.“
“I have been taking my son to Taekwondo since December 2018. He has the confidence and Discipline that he didn't have before taking this class. Master David, black belt is patient but stern with the kids. The classes are very inexpensive. Cost per class is $10 and they meet every Saturday and Sunday. I highly recommend taking your kids to this class, it definitely helps.“
“Yes yes and yes. What a great experience we have had started with my son, myself and now my wife has joined. Come one come all.“
“Being apart of the Salim team was hands on one of the best decisions we made for our daughter. Her knowledge, discipline, respect and confidence were strengthened while in this program. They are professional and dedicated in all that they do. Definitely give them a try!“
“Look fun n make you like the join n know new things n many more to come n hopefully it is fun for you too“
“This is a long overdue review. I've been bringing my seven year-old daughter to the kids class for a few months and we both really love it. Sensei Ford is great with the kids and really strikes a perfect balance between serious teaching and playfulness. We tried a couple other places before finding him and none of them worked out -- my daughter has some social issues and severe ADHD and other instructors just couldn't keep her engaged. Sensei ford somehow managed to keep ALL the kids engaged. He is kind, energetic, fun, funny, patient, serious, disciplined, and understanding, all at just the right moments. He coaches the kids well and the room is often filled with laughter while also keeping a sense of purpose and growth (in fact, one might even say 'continuous improvement' as the name says). I hope someday my daughter will move like some of the more advanced kids that have been there a while =o)As an added bonus, there are good sushi, ramen, doughnuts, and a 7-Eleven in the same parking lot. How can you go wrong? Seriously.“
