“When I found myself looking into ADUs I was quite frankly overwhelmed. A small contingent of friends who had built one shared very different experiences including one where the contractors took a substantial down payment and actually disappeared. In addition, I knew my property had rigid setbacks (power lines) as well as questionable prior contract work in the back yard decades ago, all of which made me extremely cautious and unconfident in how I was going to pull this project off.
I interviewed close to ten different contractors with a variety of experience levels, scope coverage and specialties and eventually chose Acton not only for their track record but also for their ability to provide full scope coverage from start to finish. Especially important to me was they also had success working in difficult cities like Cupertino, Los Altos, and Saratoga.
Now that the project is complete, reflecting on how things went I couldn’t be more glad I went with Acton. While the work was indeed high quality with no corners cut it was not without its hiccups. Parts arrived incorrect, print details were overlooked, and even some incidental damage, but this is just reality with any large project. It’s not the problems themselves, which are inevitable, but how they are handled and the ability to contain them such that they don’t mess up the rest of the schedule and overall build. For that, Acton earned every bit of the 5 stars I’m giving them. My project was a very tight 364 sqft unit, included almost every upgrade available, a power drop relocation, excavation for the sewer line, plus half a dozen of my own ideas through change orders, and from start of demolition to move-in took less than 6 months (95% of it was done within 5 months). This could only have been achieved by an experienced company with all the necessary sub-contractors under their purview. In particular the on-site supervisor was key and Sandro Culic, my main site contact, was the conductor who pulled this amazing feat all together. I can think of no other person I have ever worked with in my life who responded to all my texts (and I had a lot of them) and responded right away without fail even after hours and weekends. Really above and beyond. Other Acton team members I worked with who also deserve extra credit were Jenn Miller, Aws Jabir, Conner Rainey, and Zach Yeager -truly an amazing team and deserving of their success.“

“I was looking to remodel my bathrooms and kitchen and I wanted a contractor who would listen to our needs. We wanted someone to be with us while we do the selection and provide us information with the pros and cons of our selections and give us upfront information with no surprises. Mr. Parviz, our main contractor, was always available and patiently answered my questions whenever I called him. I was very content with the quality of the finished work and the contractors who worked on the different aspects of remodeling. He had very skilled people and by the end of the project we developed a good relationship with Mr.Parviz and most of the people who worked on the project. Mr.Parviz, started the project 15 days earlier than the agreed date on my request. He was committed till the end of the project, even though we decided to get a new gas connection for our gas range that delayed the project due to city permits. Mr.Parviz also made sure that he got all the finishing material in brushed nickel as we requested and paid attention to every little detail. We continue to enjoy the remodeled house with total satisfaction. When it comes to pricing, it wasn't on the lower end but, for the quality of the work the pricing was reasonable. I also appreciate Mr.Mohssen and Ms.Setareh from Barcadon Constructions for their contribution in the project. I would definitely call Barcadon Construction back for any future remodeling and recommend them for your home projects.“

“a few months ago we hired Bary Scenery to start with a design for our ADU and backyard landscaping. After looking at a few contractors and also designers we decided to go with a design and build. Talked to the owner, Ali, about the process and he was very clear as to the fact that they design under the contractor license so if they end up getting the permit they are the only ones that can build it but he also said if they decide not to build with them we can shop around and get our own contractor but that contractor has to do their own permit work. Checked with local city and they confirmed that is the case, so we hired them to start with design.

Their team is local in Mountain View and have a nice design studio, worked with head of design Behdad a lot, he has a lot of architectural educational background from Italy and his style of work is very unique. They designed our ADU and our backyard in about 2 months timeframe and gave us details for the construction cost as well. We shopped around and found out that other builders prices were very similar to Bay Scenery but they did not want to deal with Permit nor they seems to have both trades we need which were General Contractor and Landscape Contract and we would have to deal with multiple companies ourselves which was not ideal considering our own daily work load.

Signed the contract to build with Bay Scenery, they have taken care of all of the permit work like clockwork and kept us in the loop. Few challenges from the city that they are working on and we are about to start build.

I must say we were not too sure about a design and build but found that the Bay Scenery team were the most transparent and honest about the process and so far have enjoyed working with them.“
