“Two years ago, I was injured while climbing during an outdoor activity. After being told by another chiropractor that the injury was getting worse, I found Dr. Zhuang online. The website of Dr. Zhuang's clinic says "Setting Bones and Tightening Tendons", which made me feel very authentic and hopeful! At that time, my condition was that my right arm could not touch the left side of my body, and the muscles in my body were stiff and unable to move normally. “Our son was born with a left sided unilateral cleft lip and bilateral cleft palate. After meeting with several cleft teams, my husband and I chose the team at Stanford because we heard incredible things about Dr. Choo and her use of the NAM, as well as the excellence of the plastic surgeons. Stanford was by no means the easier option for us, as we had to commute 4 hours each way-- the Stanford team was always willing to accommodate us by allowing us to meet virtually as needed. We first went to Stanford when our son was 6 days old and due to our commute, the team allowed us to do the impressions for the NAM device on the spot. We weren't expecting this but we were so grateful. For the next 13 weeks we used the NAM daily and were consulted by Dr. Choo. We have extreme fondness for Dr. Choo and her incredible talent and knowledge. By the end of our NAM process, Dr. Choo felt like family. She always took the time to explain each step in great detail and she made sure that we knew what was going on. We asked several questions and were never made to feel incompetent. Our son's cleft was a bit more complicated than normal and Dr. Choo made every effort to help us achieve the best results possible. Our son's cleft went from 22 mm wide to 5 mm at the end of our 13 week process. The only reason his cleft wasn't completely closed was because our son had tight tissue bands that would not allow his gum line to move any further without surgical treatment. It was Dr. Choo that recommenced these bands to be surgically corrected during our son's lip repair. We whole heartedly believe that Dr. Choo's care for our son set the stage for the amazing surgical results that were achieved by Dr. Lorenz. Dr. Choo's excellence, expertise, and attention to detail made this entire process as easy for us as possible. There is an emotional toll having a child born with a cleft, but each time we met with Dr. Choo we felt encouraged and empowered. We cannot begin to thank Dr. Choo and Dr. Lorenz enough for their beautiful work. The entire cleft team at Stanford is incredible and I would recommend them a million times over. The orthodontic expertise that Dr. Choo has is second to none and we hope to be able to continue to work alongside Dr. Choo as our son grows older and needs continual orthodontic care. Additionally, there is a high likelihood that our other children may also be born with a cleft and we hope that Dr. Choo remains a part of the Stanford team for a long time so we can continue to benefit from her NAM work. We have since spoken with many families within the cleft community that receive their cleft care at Stanford and each family speaks very highly of Dr. Choo, the cleft team, and the work of the talented plastic surgeons, Dr. Lorenz and Dr. Khosla.
