I was already feeling depressed seeing two bald spots on my head the end of June 2022. The psychological impact grew upon my diagnosis of Alopecia Areata and Sjögren's Syndrome in July. I cut my hair back the first time in August, then cut it even shorter two weeks later. My self-conscious thoughts ate away my self-confidence, so I began wearing wraps to cover up my spots. A few later , I shaved my head and immediately felt a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I learned to embrace my reality.

I learned to embrace my reality. Before shaving my head, my husband confided with Ms. Brenda about my diagnosis and she immediately gave him a few bottles of Aloe Vera Gel for me to use. I've applied the Aloe twice a day religiously ever since then and my hair has slowly grown back. Ms. Brenda is my LIFESAVER ~ mentally and physically. Brenda at B'Jeanee has been doing my hair for many years now. I visited numerous other salons before I found B'Jeanee, but now I can't imagine anyone else working on my hair. Brenda is so much more than a stylist. She nurtures and cares for my hair beautifully, and she's coaxed my hair to the healthiest it's ever been. Now my hair is long, thick, and always has a healthy shine. Unlike many stylists who treat all Black hair the same, Brenda is skillful with all different types of hair. She assesses everyone's hair carefully before working on it for the first time, then she uses a customized approach for each of us. One of my first questions when the 2020 pandemic hit was "What about my hair?!", but Brenda came up with creative strategies to continue caring for our hair. She had a zoom consultation with me to see how my hair was doing, and she had me lean my head in close to the camera so she could get a good look. Then she prepared my own personal DIY basket, with small amounts of the products best for my hair, along with the tools (comb, color brush, etc.) for me to do a decent job at home. She carefully explained what to do and how to do it, then she set it outside for me to come by and pick-up. Now, that was creative support at a time when I needed it! I zoomed with colleagues and watched their roots grow, while I picked up baskets from B'Jeanee regularly and my hair continued to always look great. The B'Jeanne salon is always clean and comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere, so I always leave there with a calm mind and great hair. I love it!
