He made having a contractor working on this old house a pleasant experience, which most aren't. Expensive, yes, but he was reasonable and stuck to the estimate.

The one star off was for some debris left behind (some old foam and rubber gloves) outside the basement, which I'm sure was an oversight, given that he worked through lunch and was off to another night time job. Thanks Anthony! I will use (and recommend) Magic again.“

“Nelson from Atlas Plumbing and Rooter was able to successfully snake and unclog our kitchen sink after another plumber couldn’t unclog it using 3 different sized snakes. Nelson then replaced 1-1/2 inches of the sink pipe that was broken and leaking after the other plumber had taken it off to snake the kitchen sink pipe. He was honest and upfront about our options and was willing to work with us to try out the cheaper option first, and wouldn’t charge us if we needed to switch to the more expensive option, whereas another plumber we called wanted to do the most expensive option first without trying the cheaper option (this option was also less damaging to our house, which is why we wanted to do it first). Nelson deserves more than 5 stars for his expertise and willingness to do a great job! We’ll definitely request Nelson for our future plumbing and rooter work.“

“Found my (only) toilet not working at 8pm when I got home from work. My call was answered immediately. It sounded like an AI answering service so sounded sort of creepy. But they were efficient and got a plumber to me that night within an hour and a half. He was friendly, professional, and fast. And though it was a simple part replacement I thought the price was reasonable for a 9:30pm visit (was $369). Would definitely use again in an emergency.“

“I called after hours on the weekend with a clogged toilet issue. I spoke with Saul who advised me because it was after hours the rate is doubled and if I could wait till the next day it would be less costly. I didn’t want to wait. Saul asked a few questions to access the issue. He advised me he would hate for me to pay double the money for an issue I might be able to solve on my on. He then gave me instructions on how to resolve the issue and said if I was not able to fix the issue I can call back to set up an appointment. I followed Saul’s instructions and cleared the issue. “Response time =Excellent. Joe performed an inspection of our old toilet and made a cogent recommendation. He clearly explained our options and pricing of the toilet plus possible warranties. We were leaving on vacation the next day (9/3/2025) and didn’t want another toilet flood. Earlier this summer we had one while we were on vacation. Ended a working toilet. The one replaced was 12 years old and almost overflowed after a flush in the morning. Turned off the water to the toilet before it did. Tried plunging with partial success and decided to call in a plumber. Genteel had good YELP ratings and looked to be in the neighborhood on Irving Street . Though we found out later that may have been an old address. No matter.
The handoff from Joe to Daniel, who performed the install, was seamless. Both were very professional and a pleasure to work with. Both were good active listeners and answered our questions well. If we have a plumbing issues, I would NOT HESITATE to call Genteel. I would not hesitate to recommend this business. One other thing that struck me was how good the virtual assistant was. I’ m getting close to the “get off my lawn” stage ( @ 67 years old) in life. To date I have not been a fan of virtual assistants whatsoever. Whatever technology Genteel invested in, it is head and shoulders above any other virtual assistant I have dealt with. I didn’t have to scream “CUSTOMER SERVICE” into the phone several times to talk to a person and not a robot. Very human like. And GOOD INCLUDING FOLLOWUP. As a self identifying neo-Luddite, I was impressed.“

“I can’t recommend Johnny enough. I had leaks at both my sink and toilet due to badly corroded galvanized steel nipples, and he quickly diagnosed the issue and replaced them with copper ones. He also installed a whole-house water pressure regulator to fix my high PSI issue, which I didn’t even realize was causing long-term stress on my system.
