My son took his little sister who is disabled with him to pick out glasses. They were "asked" to leave Dr. Ronald J Martin's office because she is nonverbal (does not speak words but makes sounds) and was too loud for the receptionist liking. I never thought I would encounter such ABLEIST attitude in our local community, especially from someone in The medical field. SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR OFFICE STAFF for treating those who do not fit in your "perfect" little box with such ignorant and insulting behavior. We will be finding another optometrist.
I have been a customer for approximately fifteen years. Last week I was contacted to make my yearly appointment which I did. I was then notified that the appointment I made was not available. I rescheduled and the day before I received a telephone call from them which I was unable to answer. I called them back and left a message. They called me this morning and the person I spoke with said that it was strange that no message was left. I went to my scheduled appointment and upon arrival was told by the receptionist that the doctor was forty minutes behind and I would have to again reschedule. After reviewing the positive reviews on Dr. Martin, I called on 9/4/2020 around 1:30 pm, to schedule an appointment for my 91 year old mother. I asked the receptionist if Dr. Martin was excepting new patients and she said yes. Due to the problems my Mother was having with her vision, she wanted a second opinion on her diagnosis and eye glass prescription. During my conversation with the receptionist at Dr. Martin's office and letting her know of my Mother's request and that my mother had Medicare plus Tri Care For LIfe, she declined the appointment. The receptionist said that she needs to go back to the optometrist that saw her last! REALLY?????? I understand that every business has the right to deny service but I felt this was very unfair, what gives a receptionist who isn't a certified physician to make a decision that involved a medical issue? I have never experienced a denial of service from a receptionist at a professional medical business before and this is not good. Whomever was at that front desk needs a brush up on customer service and Dr. Martin will be losing more patients if he doesn't correct the phone ethics of his receptionist!
