Don't quite understand the hateful one-star reviews, but this is human nature, especially when in stages of grief and post-mourning and such. And when great amounts of money are involved in this sort of service, well that's when those who survive the deceased and are tasked with making arrangements can lash out, I suppose. My family are extended relatives and long-time friends with the family who held the service at Alta Mesa. So my account is simply a visitor's experience. Daytime funeral was in a nice, bright, well ventilated space. It didn't feel depressing or lugubrious or anything oppressive. The occasion was sombre but the ambience was not. Perhaps the audio visual stuff could have been improved during the memorial. The building itself, I was told, is relatively new construction, within the past two years or so. The restroom facility is good, and the lobby is welcoming. Parking was a breeze. A cheerful person took us around the very peaceful pleasant sunny grounds to the burial site via golf cart, and he was extremely helpful, accommodating and kind to us and Mama with her mobility issues. I really don't have any complaints about Alta Mesa Funeral Home and Memorial Park. My family's experience as visitors attending services and then burial was as smooth as one could expect.

We recently had my mother's funeral services at Alta Mesa. It is a beautiful place with a nice chapel. The staffs there are exceptional professional and friendly. We worked with Gaby, one of the funeral counselors, at the beginning who gave us a detail overview of the cremation packages. Avisha, another counselor, helped us plan and host the entire services. Avisha is a super star. She was extremely helpful, highly engaged, and very responsive via either phone call or email (sometimes even outside the business hours). I could not thank her enough for all the efforts she put in. It’s a difficult time for our family but Alta Mesa offered us a peace of mind. Highly recommended.

Kevin Ramage was our Funeral Director and was amazing to work with. He was compassionate, patient and understanding during this difficult time. My father passed unexpectedly quick on a Saturday. Without an appointment, my brother and I drove to Alta Mesa just to try and have a look. Luckily the phone service connected us to Kevin who told us he was there and would pop out to see us (we did not get that kind of reception at Gates of Heaven when we showed up without an appointment earlier that morning. Gates of Heaven has truly lovely grounds but the clinical, brusque business manner of the salesperson I'm assuming we met with was unfeeling and very much a business transaction and personally not someone I would want to work with while trying to figure out our first funeral arrangement). The chapel was everything I wanted (windows that opened so it was light and we could open to get fresh air, solemn without a lot of religious artifacts). Kevin was easy to reach as we navigated the arrangements which we had no experience with and we didn't even think of some of the things you have to consider. Patient when we didn't know a lot of the answers yet. Accommodating with our requests and respectful of our wishes. We had contacted them just to arrange the service only as my mom wanted some time to decide on where to bury my dad. But due to the service and care we received, we are looking at Alta Mesa as our choice for burial as well (my dad was cremated which they do onsite which is another very nice option so you don't have to worry about transportation for all that and of course the added cost of it). No, the grounds are not manicured to an inch of their lives like at Gates of Heaven but at least for us, that is not as important as the kind service we received. I will take that any day, but especially when arranging the funeral services of a love one. I ALMOST nixed going here due to some of the reviews but I am so glad I came. This is a very personal decision, but for us, having the service there was perfect.
