6635 Alhambra Ave #107, Martinez“Pros -Amazing classes for kids. I have a 6 year old attending. The instructors always talk bout respect and other topics us parents try to instill . - exercises that keep kids engaged - instructor to kid ratio is great always 5 or more black belts keeping kids engaged - learn some Korean :) - I see a confidence increase after 6 months. It's a great lesson for them once they earn their belts. And they have to earn their belts they arnt just given. - make up classes are simple and easy. Cant make the normal time of class? Just go to another class. No pre booking needed. Makes things so simple. -Master Kim and all the black belt instructors are so helpful and doing an amazing job. I can't stress that enough they are full of energy every single class. They arnt going through the motions they love what they do. - pizza, Safeway, sushi, Starbucks all near by. Con - parking depending on time can be tight - most all parents stay and watch. Some chairs are available. Not uncommon for there to be too many parents and folks wait outside. - I remember looking for info on prices and times on the website and it was confusing. Just contact them they will be there to answer all your questions and book an intro class get to know you and child. - price is high. However, experience putting kids in dance, gymnastics, swim, art and soccer none of those sports go over core values that any and all parents would want there child to know.“

11165 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito“I have a 7 and 9yo sons who attend EBJI. They both absolutely love it. Just recently my 9yo, who also does Soccer, told me when he fell on the pitch he was able to protect his head which was a direct result of his training at EBJI. The instruction and practices at EBJI are top notch. They don't only teach the Judo from the basics to advanced levels but they also teach values and ethics for everyday life. If you are thinking about getting your child into martial arts I highly recommend you try EBJI. Everyone I've contacted with EBJI has been very friendly and accommodating.“

2203 Central Ave, Alameda“The quality of any martial arts training depends largely on the dojo in which it is practiced. And the dojo is a reflection of the Sensei that leads it. Mikhail Sensei leads Alameda Iaido and Genwakan Iaido Dojō with such a humble grace, always putting his students first, regardless of rank or experience while exhibiting a true understanding and remarkable prowess with the sword. That, coupled with an unflagging dedication to the direct transmission of this 450 year old art form and a meticulous scrutiny in his own practice make Alameda Iaido and Genwakan Iaido dojō the perfect place to train, learn and grow as a martial artist interested in Japanese swordsmanship.Mikhail Sensei goes out of his way to help students achieve their maximum potential and has never ever allowed ego or pettiness to make its way into the dojo either on or off the mat. His encyclopedic knowledge of all things related to this school of swordsmanship is shared generously and I personally have benefitted many times from his kindnesses and learned from his example. And this same kindness and humility he shares with anyone who steps through the doors of the dojo.(The dojo is also affiliated with the Kokusai Renmei in Japan and thanks to Mikhail Sensei nurtures the Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu lineage through his regular attendance at seminars around the globe.)“

1500 S Main St, Walnut Creek“Essence BJJ Walnut Creek is a great gym to train for me as a beginner level. This is a family-operated business, and I always feel welcome when I enter, even when I am anxious or tired. This martial art isn't easy; people who train come from different walks of life and have varying athletic abilities and acumen. Crucially, Professor Vini and his coaches and staff make everyone feel welcome and encourage you to train to the best of your ability, even for practitioners who aren't athletically gifted and slightly older people like me. They also encourage discipline and respect for other students, ensuring that we don't go too hard (or too easy) on the training partner during the specific training, especially if the opponent is of the opposite gender. It is fun to re-learn etiquette and values such as honesty, determination, respect for yourself and others, and honoring those who are more accomplished and know more than you as an adult. I learned to be more minded and understand that there are a lot of things I don't know but I can be taught them with patience and by coming back. Importantly, they carefully moderate the specific training to ensure everyone stays safe and has fun while giving their best. If you are looking for a family-run gym that makes you feel at home and meet some great people while looking for a great workout and new skills, this is your place!“
“The level of skill and professionalism that Feder Sensei demonstrates is second to none. And this reflects through the actions of her Deshi and students. The moment you walk in the door, you feel welcome and a positive enenrgy that makes you feel at ease. Like coming "home". One of the best places world to study Aikido and Budo.“

The community of KMX is awesome some of the most amazing people I have met. As someone with a Karate background it is good to do a self defense style of fighting than a tournament style of fighting. This is a useful system for everyone.“

Four months later and after that one class and she’s loving it! She can’t wait for class day and I can see her getting stronger and more and more confident with herself! Sensei Tom is very disciplined and fun with the kids and adults who take the classes. If you have a kid whom you want to really learn how to defend him or herself against anyone trying to harm them, this is the class. Best Sensei ever as my daughter says!“

“Traditional Tai Chi taught by the best Shi-Fu. The REAL deal. When done correctly, the impact on one's health is amazing. It takes at least a year of hard work and frequent practice before you start seeing changes. Now after almost 2 years my back is stronger, my posture much improved, I feel more energetic, and overall feel YEARS younger! The more you put into your practice the more you get out of it. They are very attentive to the students and always thrive to teach the correct form, breathing, posture and movements, no shortcuts. Shi-Fu Wong is truly dedicated to teaching his art and helping all his students improve. Highly recommended.“
