“I came to Loma because of issues I was having with my upper back and neck. I had trouble turning my head from side to side and at times would experience whiplash if I slightly tilted my head back. It was difficult to get out of bed every morning because of the pain, so much so that I stopped using a pillow at night because the pain would be so much worse in the morning if I slept on one.
I tried stretching and massaging the pain away but none of that ever helped in the long term, the pain always came back quickly.
I decided on trying acupuncture because I had heard many good things about it. And honestly I was at a loss for what else I could do on my own.
Let me tell you, this was the best decision I ever made for myself! After my first appointment the pain drastically decreased and I was able to look over my shoulder again. “I have suffered from allergies and eczema for as long as I can remember. My day to day consisted of taking antihistamines and applying topical creams to manage my symptoms. As I got older I noticed my allergies and eczema getting worse, and every time, my doctors would only prescribe more antihistamines and stronger topical creams (stronger steroids, immunosuppressants). My breaking point occurred in 2022 when my eczema got so bad that it resulted in multiple visits to urgent care where I was prescribed strong oral steroids. However, every time the oral steroid prescription ended my symptoms would come back and they would be worse than before. I realized I had developed TSW (topical steroid withdrawal) from the years of steroid use and I decided to seek another option as western doctors continued to push more steroids on me. “While briefly living in L.A., I took a trip and contracted a bacterial infection that led to severe sinus congestion, ear and eye infections, and ENT inflammation. My doctors suggested that the only course of action was facial reconstructive surgery to open the sinuses and align my deviated septum, which could potentially make matters worse.

While I understood the doctors' concerns and advice, I knew that if the source of the issue was inflammation. This invasive surgery would only lead to more inflammation and little guarantee that the problem would be resolved.

My regret was not going to Magie, and, specifically, Magie, sooner, as another practitioner with whom I briefly sought treatment had mistreated me.

I suffered for nine months and was on every antibiotic, steroid, and concoction under the sun. Magie treated the *source* of my issue (with improvement starting in under three months) and educated me on properly using herbs and supplements, prompting me to cherish her encouragement to *become a greater advocate for my health* and empowering me to immerse myself in my culture's traditional healing as complementary support.

Now, that horrifying experience seems like a distant one. I'm lucky enough to have a few supplements remaining and instructions on how to use them properly (should I ever need to again).

I can't sufficiently express my gratitude for Magie, and I know I’ll never receive support nearly as much as she provided. A trip to Echo Park will be a priority if I'm ever in the U.S. and visiting the L.A. area.
