“Alpha was referred to me by my hairstylist for our 08/10/24 vineyard wedding in Temecula, CA. I wanted someone who was familiar with skin of color and a small business owner. After looking at her portfolio and speaking with other satisfied clients, I booked her services. She was extremely professional and personable from start to finish. Her quote was very transparent and included a pre wedding bridal trial as well as her travel fees (which were very fair). Due to this being a destination wedding I had to travel to OC for my trial and missed my initial flight. Alpha was very understanding and helped me reschedule with ease. On the day of the trial, Alpha was personable and took her time to achieve my desired look. She was so patient, she didn't loose her cool when I had her change my lip color 3 times before deciding on my final look! On the day of the wedding everything went smoothly; Alpha was punctual and prepared-she requested pictures of my entire wedding party with their makeup inspirations several months in advance. She had perfect foundation matches for everyone in the wedding party, nailed everyone's makeup look and was extremely flexible when one of my bridesmaids was late for her makeup time. Last minute I even added blush and lipstick for my Jr bridesmaids and flower girls (ages 4,7, 9 and 9) which Alpha was able to accommodate. For the adult bridesmaids/bride she provided a blotting tissue and lipstick for touchups throughout the day. Despite the day being ~90 degrees, lots of eating/drinking and dancing (read sweat and lots of it), not a single person's makeup smeared. Everyone loved their looks and their confidence shown in our wedding pictures. As for me, I felt and looked amazing; she made my bridal dreams come true! Don't walk, RUN to book Alpha and Sweet Fuss! I 100% recommend her!“

“After more than a year in Long Beach, I've finally found The One! ???

Christina is such a hair coloring magician and a gem that I hesitate to review her snd share her w all of you! I discovered her right before the holidays, and was fortunate enough to slide into a canceled appointment, since she was booked pretty solid in December before Christmas.

From the moment I met her I was put at ease, with reassurances that she would not chop my hair when I asked to keep the length. Christina explains hair color and hair care really well. I coulc tell that she has years of experience and expertise. And she did such wonders w my faded hair color (I have unruly Asian hair)! Christina uses Joico and Kenra, etc. I totally felt at home for the several hours I was there.

The salon itself is clean, cute, minimal, and right next to 2nd Street. Parking is metered and you'll have to use the app Passport; otherwise like me, whose Passport app failed, you'll need some change/cash. For accessibility, there are a couple of steps at the salon entrance.

“The owner responded to my review and that made me smile he was gracious and explained a lot that I hadn't considered and now I really do believe there was a lack of communication or possibly miscommunication on my behalf when I initially called. Particularly when the scheduling of an initial meeting didn't happen it never occurred to me that the owner was working solo in his establishment. I wanted to visit this salon in particular after searching in vain on Yelp for an African American hair stylist I found J D's Hair Studio and his work spoke for itself his reviews the pics and testimonials had me sold and it's near my condo that's why sister girl wanted to get her hair did. I'm a natural hair girl 10 years It's been years since I went to a professional shop the game has most definitely changed but what remains are the true professionals who actually do the work aka wash shampoo conditioner and style hair J D's fit the box and is old school as they get he puts in the work. Inconclusion if I was wrong in my assessment or even partially wrong in my prior review I'll make it right with this review. My review was never personal that's why I was sure to point out what was obvious and that is his work speaks for itself the pics show that his work in styling is absolutely outstanding and amazing he is a rockstar in my opinion that's why this sister girl wanted him to hook up her fro. lol I highly recommend you consider this salon but please call ahead and make a consultation for the stylist to see your hair and develop a plan going forward that works for you.
