“I am sorry you are reading this but that means you are trying to ensure you find the best final goodbye for your pet. I want to share my experience to hopefully help ease any of your nerves. We helped my sweet pup cross the rainbow bridge on December 30, 2023 but haven't had the mindset to fully revisit the final goodbye. I called heart and halos a couple times, the first time to was once we were beginning to consider euthanasia and I just wanted information and linh was very sweet. I called two times during the next few weeks to check on their availability until we were really ready to let go. We wanted to wait until after Christmas to enjoy having our sweet boy with us one last time but wanted a back up plan in case we thought he wouldn't make it. I was informed it was an extra $200 on holidays (not eve) but otherwise same price on weekends. We paid around $600 for my baby boy but they have different prices depending on after care packages and pet weight. Overall, linh had a big impact on us deciding on Heart and halos as she was very patient and compassionate. I had called other euthanasia places and they were rude and just wanted to know if you wanted to book now or would hang up. Your receptionist is a big representative of the company. About 15 minutes before our appointment time, we got a phone call from a private number to let us know their ETA. They arrived right at our appointment time, not a minute late. My judgment about the company was not wrong, Dr Susan was very sweet. Once they got to the house, I asked that her assistant wait outside and to only have Dr. Susan come inside after a few minutes while I settled into position with my baby boy. Dr. Susan went above and beyond to make sure my sweet boy did not see her. I held him on my chest sitting on our living room couch as she snuck in and kneeled behind the couch. With him facing the opposite direction, she administered the first injection. The only thing I wish I could have prepared for was that my baby did feel the first shot and it did sting him once it was administered. Nothing on the doctors practice, she even diluted it and gave me an option on how I would like the first shot, IV, IM or SQ. She recommended SQ for less pain and even advised she dilutes it with normal saline as part of her practice. As I registered nurse I know that this can happen with an injection, I just imagine it feels like getting a vaccine- very minimal pain compared to a natural death. Luckily my baby had been receiving sq fluids at the same site of the first sq injection, so my baby probably just thought I was poking him again for give him fluids. My baby boy was deep asleep within ** minutes and did not feel the second shot given intravenous. My baby boy crossed the rainbow bridge knowing he was loved, laying on my chest in the comfort of his own home. The experience of putting your childhood pet to sleep is something no one can truly prepare you for, I miss him everyday. But I rest in comfort knowing I chose the very best service to put him to rest.“
“I brought my cat Siouxsie for her first exam and felt very comfortable with everyone, so I even had her spayed here. I was so worried. Dr. Son & the staff were great. Siouxsie did well & healed wonderfully. I am a first-time cat owner, so I came with many questions. They took the time to talk to me even though they were busy. My Siouxsie has found her vet.“
“Santa Monica veterinary group was kind enough to allow a walk-in urgent care for my dog. I thought he was having dental issues but they very thoroughly checked him out in front of me and found the issue to be with his neck. The doctor kindly walked me through everything going on with the dog and provided excellent care. I highly recommend this veterinary group.“
“Our sophie has crossed the rainbow bridge. Dr. Kwon was very helpful and gave me a lot of comfort.
thank you“
“Staff is very friendly and they knowledgable. The dr easily identified the problem in my dog ( hernia) and was able to successfully do surgery to repair it. Beast (my dog) couldn't be happier thanks to them :)“
“10/10 animal hospital in the South Bay. The staff is always so welcoming and kind. I've been taking my dog Miso since we brought her home as a pup and I've had positive experiences every time - checkups, allergies, spaying, vaccines and everything else in between. Misos primary vet is Dr.Higashi who is extremely compassionate and detailed in her exams. You can really feel her passion in providing the best care and Miso is always so exited to see her. I'm grateful to have found a vet and staff I can trust!“
“These guys took care of my chihuahua. They were and are super professional. You can absolutely have peace of mind with them. They're caring, respectful, and completely understand your concerns. I highly recommend them.“
“Drs. Kagan & Steinem have been useful and knowledgeable resources. They have understood our dogs well and have helped us provide a safe, healthy environment for our dogs.“
“Great place! All of the staff were super kind and helpful. Super happy to have them nearby for my dog“
“I can't say enough about the amazing team at BARC. My senior French Bulldog Kirby goes for physical therapy and acupuncture and they have provided top notch care. She recently had an IVDD flare up and bounced right back which I believe is due to the care she has received during preventative PT and accupuncture sessions. It's amazing to see my dog getting bursts of puppy energy due to the program here. Everyone on staff is always so perceptive to the pets' needs as they evolve. The entire team is also simply wonderful, caring, and kind. They have created a very positive environment. Thank you BARC!“

“Just love their service. They truly show passion in caring for animals. Been going here for over 10 years and never been disappointed. Thank you to this entire team for their great customer service!“
“The best. Dr Kirby has been treating our allergic dog for years. She’s amazing. She spends the time to examine her closely and explain all the treatment options as many times as it takes. Knows everything including all the latest studies and treatments. Easy to schedule with especially in the post covid vet shortage. And most importantly cares about her patients. We end up seeing her way more than our primary care vet for all these reasons and more.“
“The staff is always kind and caring and very helpful, and the printed previews of potential costs and reasons for each is exceptional.“
“Dr White cares about his patients. Nice atmosphere and dedicated staff. Took great care of my Simon“
“They explain everything about symptoms and how to treat them with dedication. They are very patient and provided me with a way to clean my dog's pee because he gets nervous.“
“I switched my cats to her homemade diet and my extra grumpy 9 year old cat is much happier. She's had the zoomies and playing more than usual. I realize now that the commercial food was the issue and I think she just had stomach problems. No more occasional diarrhea and the litter boxes smell much better now. And because I was feeding a higher quality wet food diet to 3 cats, it was extremely expensive and this is about 75% cheaper in cost.“
“I was recommended here for dental work for my dog from k9 grillz. I am grateful we came here for his dental cleaning and extractions! I was nervous about the process as it's never fun to have to put your dog under and undergo any type of procedure even for their best health. My dog is my best friend and super anxious so the idea made me anxious too! However, the entire staff was so helpful and kind which made me feel so much better. Thank you to everyone who interacted with us and took care of him. I am so grateful for the care and treatment! The process was smooth and easy. I was updated the entire time and I felt like he was in the best hands. Thank you to Dr. Snyder for the honest feedback and safety of Gus during his dental work. He is healing so wonderfully and we could not appreciate it more!“
“My beloved senior cat, Rusty, was suddenly in distress from long-term chronic kidney disease, refusing food for a couple days and unable to drink water without throwing up. I was freaking out because I had to leave town shortly for three weeks. This happened to be an important trip to care for my mom. I hated the thought of both "disappearing" on Rusty at this critical time, or not being there for him should he die. ESAH kindly carried through on offering me a cancelled appointment that same day. Dr. Shin was wonderful and caring. She told me that Rusty was in critical condition and advised of extreme measures that could be taken to try to stabilize his health. She also admitted that treatment may not work and would only offer a temporary solution. She assured me that--far from cruel--this would be a good time to let Rusty go. Her stating this was extremely important to me in making a very painful, sudden decision. Dr. Shin and the ESAH staff were exceptionally kind and supportive. They allowed my husband and I all the time we needed to pamper Rusty and say our good-byes. Rusty was calmed by our presence and drifted off peacefully. I'm grateful to Dr. Shin and the ESAH staff for guiding and helping me through this very tough experience. They followed up by sending me flowers the next day. As sad as I am over the loss of Rusty, I'm also feeling lucky to live near this amazing clinic.“
“Everyone that works here, with no exceptions, are the most loving caring, and friendly people. They are such a blessing, and have done a wonderful job caring for my dog. We are very thankful for them.“
“Dr. Doane has always been so understanding and made my dogs feel comfortable. She understands their little quirks! She obviously loves animals. She is kind and patient. We have been seeing her for over 25years.Thanks Dr. Doane“
“Every member of the staff, from the vet to all the aides, clerical people, and janitorial guy, are good at their jobs and care about the animals. They all demonstrate a personal interest in the patients, and do their jobs with a high level of competence. The facility is small, but it is kept very clean, and functions smoothly. Highly recommend.“
“Dr Roskopf is incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. I brought my atelopus barbotini in last week, and he gave me antibiotics to put them on because we are unsure if the pet shop lied about them being wild caught or not. I appreciate everything him and his team did for me and my toads. I only give four stars because the appt was about a half hour late, and we arrived 15 min early. Like with humans, things happen with animals, and if my pet needed an extra half hour of care, I would hope the next patient would be compassionate- this doesn’t seem like a place that plans poorly. You can’t go inside, which bothers me and is why I give four stars, because I prefer to be with my animals when I take them anywhere. Frogs and toads are easily stressed, new environments being the thing that stresses them out most, people often strongly recommend against taking them to the vet, but Nick Stacy aka indicator species recommended I go given the circumstances- (he is the first hobbiest to successfully breed atelopus outside a lab) so the extra time in the deli cup probably wasn’t great. Their prices are very reasonable, but having to sit in my car in an uncovered parking space was a bit difficult, and I wasn’t able to turn off my car or the a/c would turn off, which wasted a lot of gas…

Unfortunately the toad passed away a few days later, and Dr. Roskopf called me back right away and suggested I get an necropsy done asap, in case it can help with the one toad I do still have.

Speaking of gas, bless the people that work at the auto repair next door ? the screaming bird sounds can’t be easy to work next door to lol (not a critique of the vet, just to end things on a light note)

Ps- please do not buy animals from pet stores, go to reputable breeders directly. There are so many people that will do anything to make a sale, coming across this Doctor was a nice reminder there are good humans out there that actually care.“
