UPDATE July 12, 2024 For a long time I believed the office staff at Century Eyecare were understaffed and that's why they were so rude and had an obvious "we don't give a shyte" attitude but at least Dr. Aghai cared. I believed Dr. Aghai beieved his never had to try to make an appointment or get the office staff on the phone, that's why he defended them. Now, I don't really know if there is ANYBODY at Century Eyecare who really cares about patients more than the cost of a 73 cent postage stamp. Since March, this office has been telling me "we are doing training, we will contact you"for scheduling" my next appointment (which was supposed to be 6 weeks after my last one). Today, I found out through my health care provider that Century Eyecare is no longer taking my insurance (Medicaid). One thing I know for sure is nobody at this office had enough respect for patient care to even inform me that I need to find a new doctor. This office let me ask them multiple times for an appointment in March, April, May and June and gave me an excuse, which if it is true, means it takes them four months to figure out how to use a new machine (incompetent). Or (more likely) they just lied and silently dropped Medicaid patients. The funny thing is, I went down to their office in May and told the lady at the desk to her face that she was lying. About 20 minutes after I got home I got a call from Molina Health Care saying my appointment was approved! Obviously they had no intention of scheduling an appointment for me until I went down there and told them I was going to file a grievence! Suddendly, that same day, I was offerend an appointment, but only if I could be there in the next two days (and I need 3 days notice to schedule transportation (and I think they knew that). So obvioulsy they were not trying to schedule me and only asked for authorization because I went down there and called them liars. Professionally, I beleieve Aghai is a good doctor and seems to have top notch equipment. If you can get an appointment and get seen the day of your appointment, I would say do so. Just know that all because you have an 11:00AM appointment, you may still be sitting there waiting at 4:00PM so bring a lunch with you. That's not an exaggeration. Several people in the waiting room always echo my complaints when I go to the desk to complain. He asked me once why I would check in but would not be there when they called my name. I told him I don't understand how I can have a 10:00 appointment and not be seen until 1:30PM. (Now I have to say that was at the Redondo Beach location, but it really was no better at the Hawhorne location). I told him EVERYBODY'S time is valuable, not just the doctor's time and I was giving the office two hours, then I would leave. Eventutally, the office did learn that I was not bluffing and when after an hour and a half I would tell them I would be leaving in the next 30 minutes I would suddenly be called from the waiting area. Just know that this office expects you to "take it". I expect that is so because like myself, most patients here are poor and on Medicaid, so we don't have many options. 1) The business side of this company as far as scheduling goes has been a disaster ever since my insurance assigned me to this officee which was around year 2015. There was ONE period of about 5 months last year where scheduling improved, but after that, scheduling went right back to being the same disaster. 2) No matter who is in charge. that person did not really care enough about this patient to put a 73 cent stamp on a letter (or send a text, or leave a voicemail, or send an e-mail to a patient) saying... "Dear patient: We regret to inform you that we no longer accept your insurance. If you have another way of payment we can schedule you, otherwise it has been a pleasure serving you." I don't think I was asking for too much. I will miss the confidence in care the doctor inspired. I won't miss the "we don't give a shyte&quo
This place has no respect for the customer. I called and waited on hold for over an hour, then after scheduling my appointment, they changed it. Then I call again and have to go through the same process again. Not to mention that they overlook and make people wait for hours!
The truth about the experience of this center is the bad treatment and failure to answer her calls. It is disrespectful to the patient and the doctor is good when dealing with him. However, the secretariat harms the center’s reputation. However, it happened that the secretariat decided to treat you without presenting it to the doctor. Unfortunately, I preferred not to deal with them at all.
