I'll save you the time if you're looking for a new OB/GYN - I called as soon as the office opened and it took 5 minutes to get through. The receptionist advised me that Dr. Powelson's first availability is in September.Unsure why Cigna says she's accepting new patients. It's April - if she can't see anyone for 5 months, she doesn't have the availability to take on new people.

Dr Powelson is amazing. One of the best OBGYN’s I’ve ever had. Kind and patient and knowledgeable. It actually pains me to leave this practice and her behind but the office and appointments are managed ridiculously. I’ve been waiting months for an appointment only to have it canceled 3x now. The first time they let me come into the office to tell me she’s been in delivery for hours and can’t see me. If they had called me just 10 mins prior it would have saved me a trip. Then they offered to reschedule that appointment to combine it with an upcoming one I already had scheduled for another issue. Honestly I love the Drs and all the staff, they’re all incredible at what they do. I’ve been coming here since I moved to Folsom in 2014 and I’ve never had anything but positive things to say and have even referred friends. But twice now I have shown up to my appointment and they told me they had to cancel it last minute. I have my own patients at my job that I had to schedule around my appointments and it’s incredibly frustrating because this would be unacceptable at my office. This is just an inexcusable way to operate a practice and if it happens again I will find another office because my health is too important to be canceled on twice in a row like this....read full review
