“Ray is my hero. After getting the runaround from my home warranty company when my AC went out in the middle of June I frantically called everyone down the line. Some answered with dates days down the line, some didn't answer or return calls at all. One wanted to charge me $850 AN HOUR. I guess they heard a frantically ill woman on the phone who didn't want her or her boyfriend who has COPD to end up in the hospital and thought they could take half her months income. Now let me tell you why Ray is my hero. I called him at about 4pm yesterday and explainedthe AC was blowinghot air. No mistaking it was as if the heater was on when I woke up that morning. I was already getting ill from the heat effect on my illness. I probably even sounded slightly hysterical because I was a bit scared. He got me calmed down and told me he had to be in pine early in the morning but he would come here on his way. He was here before 7am. He checked everything on this unit inside and outside the house and damned if it had nothing wrong with it. This is the biggest reason why he's my hero. My service charge for the hone warranty is $85 and Ray only charged me $75 for coming out on a Saturday at 7am! Going forward I will recommend and always call Ray for my HVAC needs!“

We called the North Mechanical main line on the afternoon of Friday, 08/16/24 and described our situation. For about a week the thermostat display would go blank intermittently and inexplicably, and the AC would go off. Then the thermostat display would come back on intermittently and inexplicably, and AC would come back on. We were wondering whether that might be a problem with the capacitor, and perhaps we should keep the AC off for fear of blowing out the whole system (Google search). I told them we understood it was a Friday afternoon, and we were prepared to “tough-out” the weekend (cold showers and floor fans) with the hope of a Monday appointment – it was 94 degrees in the house. They told us they would contact the on-call tech. In less than 45 minutes, Andrew called me back.
Andrew asked several detailed questions to get a very good idea of where he would start his assessment of our situation upon his arrival. He was apologetic that he was just about to begin another assignment, but he would make every effort to arrive at our house within 2 ½ to 3 hours from our phone call without jeopardizing his successful resolution of that client’s needs. I replied jokingly, “we understand it’s a Friday afternoon, and there are other folks in line ahead of us. For our part, we take a dim view of people, who ‘cut ahead in line.’ We can wait our turn.”
Within 2 hours from that phone call, Andrew called to say he had completed his other assignment and was on his way to us. Upon his arrival, he confirmed our earlier conversation and went right to work. He tested our system thoroughly, excluded unlikely possibilities, further tested likely possibilities and then reached his diagnosis. He addressed that diagnosis effectively – we had our air conditioner back! Although Andrew is also congenial, which we appreciate, he is a talented professional. He knows what he’s doing, and he won’t be diverted from successful completion of the assignment.
Maybe the best thing we could say at this point is this. My wife and I slept that night with blankets; it was that chilly in the house.
