We initially brought our dog to Desert View for a second opinion. We ended up loving the care and compassion that we received from the doctors and staff. Our dog was saved because we came here.
This month my dog got very sick out of the blue. Her signs of illness kept changing. She would be sever, then bounce back. I had her in the vet first thing on a Monday (5*9*16) She had not ate or drank since the Saturday before (5*7*16) Sunday night (5*8*16) she dug in my tree that is planted in a big pot in my house, to hide. Monday she got some blood work done, and was on I.V fluids. We did this Mon-Wed then on Wednesday she started showing signs of bouncing back. But come Thursday morning she had declined real bad. I knew I had to go put her to sleep. She still was not eating, drinking. She could not sit, stand or lift her head up. She was breathing with a snoring sound, and her face looked swollen. I wrapped her up in a blanket and took her back down to Dr. Stephanie. Stephanie looked at the notes from the previous days, and it hit her. My dog went into Addison's shock. She called me with the news, and began treatment. A sincere thank you to Dr.Stephanie and the staff ~ My dog is still alive. She would not of made it through the night. Addison's affects the Corticosteriod hormones that are needed to adapt to stressful situations. With out these hormones even small stresses could lead to physiologic disaster. Addison's shock can bring death. Every 25 days my dog will get a shot of the hormone for the rest of her life. She also has steroids at home for when needed. (like a server thunderstorm) Thank you so much Dr.Stephanie and the staff at Desert View Animal Hospital.
We have taken our dogs to Desert View Animal Hospital since 1996 - even before it was at its current location - and have always received the very best of care and advice. We have Dobermans - which are the loveliest of dogs, but they very often have an inherited heart condition that requires attention and knowledge. We have always gotten both from the staff at Desert View; they are thorough, thoughtful, and extremely kind. Dogs just don't live long enough, and when we lost our last Dobe, Desert View Animal Hospital sent us flowers. I couldn't ask for a finer establishment.
