I was wanting to have a scar revision from a botched procedure as an infant as well as a repair for an umbilical hernia. Initially I had gone to WVU plastic surgery for a consult (had to wait 5 months for the appointment) and the doc only took 2 seconds to glance at it and said that he'd only make it worse and for the hernia they'd just refer me to general surgery. To add insult to injury, they set an appointment without consulting with me in regards to scheduling; needless to say I was not happy with them.

Upon contacting Dr. Akkary's office, they scheduled a consultation within 2 weeks. He took the time to assess the situation and came up with a surgical plan to greatly improve the appearance of the scar. He was able to address both issues in a single surgery. Overall I am happy with the results. The scar line is now far less noticeable and I can more confidently expose my stomach without being self-conscious of people staring at the scar line.“
