There are good vets… and then there are the kind you’d drive hours for without thinking twice. Kettle Moraine Equine is exactly that for us. Between our own horses and a couple we’ve brought down for friends, they’ve taken care of four horses for us now. Every single time, they’ve worked with us to get everyone scheduled together, which made a huge difference for a long haul and even helped cut down on fuel costs. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. We make the four-hour trip specifically for Dr. Gieche, and there’s a reason for it. When you depend on performance horses day in and day out, you need someone who truly understands what it takes to get them back to work safely and efficiently. His knowledge, honesty, and care are second to none. But what really sets them apart is how they treat people. You’re not just dropping a horse off and waiting… you’re welcomed in like family. During longer procedures, his wife even put together a list of things for us to do in the area so we weren’t just sitting around all day. It’s those little things that make a long visit feel a lot shorter. They’ve even taken the time to include my homeschooled son, showing him some really neat things while we were there. That meant a lot to us. They’re thorough, fair, and genuinely care about both the horses and the people behind them. We trust them completely, and we’ll continue to make that four-hour trip anytime our horses need this level of care. Some places you find… and some places you stick with. This is one we’re sticking with.

BEYOND grateful and thankful for Dr. Gieche, DVM, at KME for not only returning my call within 20 minutes of leaving an emotional message (that was probably difficult to even comprehend through my sobs) giving me the peace of mind, respect, and reassurance knowing that I am not only doing the right thing, but; also showing that there are still DVM’s out there that care above and beyond about their “patients” and their owners during the hardest appointment you have to make as an animal mom. After making the time to get out to my place, I not only got to go spend the morning talking to my boy about how beautiful heaven is going to be with my mom- I knew, and was shown so much care and love, that he and I were in great hands by a devoted and caring clinic; owned by a phenomenal and compassionate vet during the most utterly devastating, but; necessary appointment. I am forever thankful for Dr. G and Kayla for walking me through the details of the procedure, but; also allowing an extra 20 minutes of time to say my prayers and final goodbye to my beloved gelding. The hugs and tears that were shared between all of us will never be forgotten. I love you guys so much. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart KME team.
