Well, time to redo all of my mulch beds. After measuring the various circles, half-circles, and other goofy shapes - TWICE - to make sure I had it right, I calculated I needed approximately 30 cubic yards of mulch. Yikes. I drove around to get a few samples to show my wife. I also got prices. First of all, Mavroff's was the cheapest, by $3.00/yard. As with most places, delivery is free with 8 yards or more. And with the large quantity - I got a nice break on the price. I spoke with Katie on the phone. Awesome professionalism - and she know's her stuff. I decided to start with 20 yards - just in case my measuring was off - certainly a possibility with the goofy angles and circles. I was indeed short, but I figured I needed only another 6 yards. So, I called back, spoke with Katie again. Even though I wasn't getting the 8 yards (for free delivery), she gave me the same price as if I had ordered the larger quantity - and free delivery, again. She was awesome. Got the 6 new yards spread, and found myself about 1/2 yard short. After checking out Home Depot to see if I could get some "matching" mulch there - I decided to stop in at Mavroff's to see if I could get about 1/2 yard. I was fully planning to pay for it. Met Katie in person. She actually gave me that 1/2 yard for free - all I had to do was to bag it (they provided the bags) and load it in my SUV. I'll be reseeding a large portion of my lawn yet this spring - and you can be sure Mavroff's will get the call for the topsoil delivery. From the phone (Katie), to the delivery drivers (Mark), to the guys in the yard (Randy), they are awesome. Simply awesome. Polite, friendly, helpful.
