I'm very disappointed that they closed the Kid's Club since childcare was the reason I joined this gym. Now I feel like I'm wasting my money at a gym that doesn't have the amenities I need. I'm sure your other members with small children are equally frustrated.

This place doesn't care about its members... is it forcing family's out by shutting down the kids club. This is ridiculous considering that is one of the main reasons we go to this gym. VERY DISAPPOINTED

I was a member for a couple of months. When I was given the tour, I was very impressed because there were so many amenities. However, it did not take long to see that the place has great potential, but the way it's maintained and managed shows that it's out of date and not well funded. They did not have online registration to join. I tried to join by calling, but my messages were never returned. I finally had to go in person and sign up. There are definitely issues with maintenance and cleanliness. The lap and therapy pools are kept warm, which I liked. However, the tile grout is grimy, as are the lane dividers. Many of the lights are burned out and/or are kept off during the day, even when it's cloudy, giving the pool a depressed feeling. They held the aquatics classes in the lap pool instead of the therapy pool and it took up half the lanes. As there is a dedicated cadre of people who lap swim, I would often have to wait for an open lane. I used a few of the machines upstairs but they seemed to be older. One squeeked and made noise when I started up. The TV's don't seem to work on the machines, or at least I could not get good reception on any I used. On the upside, there is a walking/running track that runs along the perimeter which is a plus during inclement weather. You have to walk a flight of concrete stairs in a cold hallway to get from the upstairs or the pool to the locker room. This makes for a shiver when coming from the pool. I tried the elevator once, but it didn't come in the 5 minutes I waited for it. The sauna in the women's locker turns off after 20 minutes, so it never really gets warm and certainly isn't warm in the early morning. The locker room appears clean, but it is carpeted and the wooden benches are worn. The lockers are full size, but use keys instead of combinations. This appears to create unnecessary work for the front desk, not to mention having to keep track of a key while you are working out. The first time I went I was asked what locker I wanted (which I thought was absurd), but was then told that some members get irate if "their" locker isn't available. Music is oldies and does little to inspire a good workout. It appears that the snack bar used to be staffed, but now it's all machines. I never saw anyone using it. I cannot speak to the classes, because I did not take any. Unlike the other reviewer, I rarely saw any younger people. I had a good massage at the spa, but I do not recommend the spa's nail salon at all. It's cramped and messy. My nail tech dressed as if she were homeless. It was clear she had little supervised training. It took 25 minutes for her to get on a single coat, partly because the spa was out of all three of the products she used and she was scraping the sides and bottom of the bottles. She applied the polish so thick it looked as if I had acrylic nails. I removed it as soon as I got home and in that time, it hadn't dried. I understand they lost many members during the pandemic, but West Wood is now competing against facilities like Lifetime. If they put some funding into upgrading, they would have a first class facility that would certainly bring back members.
