My company was a customer of SMG. Keyword WAS. I have worked for and with numerous IT companies and I have to say - never have I ever dealt with a professional services or consulting firm that wouldn't provide a record of what they've done and when they did it. If I had to have them change/work on something for me? They controlled all the data so communication must be emailed to them so they can charge for the time to change it. After receiving a higher than expected billing from them, I requested information on what was done, when and by who, the response that I got was, time logs and related notes are "private internal communications" and I could not get them. How is that even possible when the work they perform and associated communication is based on dealings with or for the person paying the bill? You have to ask, what are they hiding? Based on my last experience I believe it's to be able to upcharge time. In any case, after numerous attempts to find a way to work with this company, I am moving on. I was yelled at over the phone by the owner of the company for questioning the bill, and I do mean yelled at. This wasn't a one-time occurrence, I've dealt with sarcasm and overall unprofessional behavior. In fairness, that behavior all came from the owner, not the engineers I ever worked with. Caveat Emptor if you decide to trust this company. As important as technology is to a business - if you are looking for a partner who wants to help, not hinder look elsewhere.
