My mom was hesitant to have a caregiver but after contracting with Rent-a-Daughter and meeting the staff, she was convinced that it was a wonderful decision. Mom loves her care team and feels that they truly have a passion for those they care for. Her care team has given me the comfort that my mom is taken care of when I am not present. I would recommend them to anyone considering this service.
To stay as far away from them as possible. You will be treated very differently according to how you pay your bill. If you private pay they will love you. If you get help paying your bill from the state RAD will no longer accept you as a new client. They are getting rid of their current county clients by any means necessary. I did both kinds of pay but as soon as I dropped the private pay I was out the door. RAD owns a new bld in Menominee Falls, paid for with $ from the recovery act, private pay and county clients who they no longer need. RAD knew I had no other way to get to my Dr in the Falls or to a surgical procedure. They didn’t care how ill I’d been. They gave me no warning that they were going to drop me and it takes time to find another agency. RAD knew I needed supportive care 7 days a week in order to come home from rehab. I was forced to pay for county services on my bill bc RAD couldn’t be bothered to wait for payment from the state and they wanted to close out my account. This was all planned! I was also always referred to as a county client by their receptionist when I’d call the office and it was on my calendar. RAD created an extremely stressful environment for me when I had to call them and with the caregiver in my home. Their caregivers don’t have the qualifications to be caregivers, their response time is too slow, they aren’t able to remember or follow directions, not able to lift much weight due to age and strength, too many food and bathroom breaks on a 3 hr shift, people who complain a lot or who just don’t want to work. An example of one of RAD’s caregivers is the one who gave me rotten food that I got sick from 3 times in just one week bc she didn’t check for mold first. She left me alone in an area where I couldn’t take my walker. I got dizzy and screamed for help for 10 min before she finally showed up to help. What if this had been the shower? The day this caregiver took me to the hospital it took her 10 min each to find my purse which she’d locked in the garage, close garage door, front door. She wanted to leave everything open. Meanwhile I’m passing out in the front seat of her car. I wasn’t sure she knew how to drive. This caregiver left heavy items out for me to put away on numerous occasions, which I’m not supposed to do. She dropped a bottle of pills all over the floor that were on a table that I told her to stop cleaning for that reason. I had to find all those pills! She got me out of a chair when I was resting to show her how to use an electric can opener. She kept locking my garbage and recyclables carts in the garage so they weren’t available on pick up day even though I told her to keep her hands off of them. She left the dishes undone repeatedly and messed up a project we were working on. She would take bags of ice cubes home with her from my freezer to use at home.I gave her food to take home with her only to find groceries missing from my home . That’s how she repaid me. She was the only person around that day putting the grocery order away. A gait belt also went missing which only a caregiver would know what it is and have a need for one. This woman spied on me for her boss who was looking for reasons to get rid of me. Her boss would always call me after this woman had been at my home. The boss always knew what we’d worked on and talked about that day. What finally got this woman kicked out of my house was the mess she made of it and the trouble she caused at my pharmacy. She was supposed to pick up 2 scripts but she left one behind. She had me call the pharmacist and then proceeded to scream at him that what she did was his fault. She lied to her boss. I got blamed for the incident and that’s when I was kicked to the curb. Another of RAD’s caregivers texted me 6mos after I asked her to leave my home to try and extort $ from me for a pair of glasses that she’s hinting I broke. I didn’t. I have the texts she sent me. In conclusion, RAD staff try to come off as being so kind, caring and religious. (I still laugh about their voicemail message that says they are in prayer meetings
