This has been my experience, the past few years, with SSM Health: I asked my doctor if my new prescription of antibiotics would cause a yeast infection. His reply "Everything causes yeast infections. Don't worry about it." (I got a new doctor). I was taken by ambulance to St. Mary's ER for food poisoning when I passed out and hit my head. The very first employee I encountered asked for my name, date of birth, and said "I see you have a copay. How do you want to pay for it?" The ER doctor did no hands on, and lied in his after visit notes about his exam and what was said. I went to my annual physical and told the doctor that I had alot of hip pain. I was prescribed a muscle relaxer, which made me dizzy and put me to sleep. The doctor couldn't have known, that of course, and when I mentioned that I couldn't function on it, he said "we'll monitor the hip pain." (monitor what? How much pain I can stand?!) I have a history of diverticulitis, but can't get in to see the gastroenterologist for 3 months. When I had a bout, the SSM Health scheduler encouraged me to use the video doc. The video doc refused to prescribe any antibiotics or pain killers and said "just keep doing what you're doing." So, I spent the next two days in a fetal position and taking so many aspirins that my ears were ringing. When did doctors stop caring about their patients' pain?
Dr Punt reflects poorly on SSM - can only recommend they evaluate her practice. She is brief and seems to tailor her practice to what's easiest for her. Staff are efficient in rooming the patient but too quick. They don't seem to enjoy their position. Find another clinic.
I have an anxiety disorder with panic and after a year of frustration dealing with UW Health's bureaucratic business management (Doctors and Nurses were great), I decided to switch to SSM Health. I have BCBS Insurance. I contacted their intake and explained what was going on. They got me in very quickly with a Nurse Practitioner named Dr. Madison. There was a library of overdue blood tests I needed as well as OBGYN. Not only did I get in right away, but was able to get three appointments for my routine care and issues within the span of three weeks. All on my day off which is a Wednesday! All staff from business side to Dr. Madison was very personable and very caring. I got my blood test results back the very same day instead of two days as the lab predicted. Excellent service! Keep up the good work!
