My favorite dojo East of the Rockies. Good people, dedicated & knowledgeable teachers from the second, third, & fourth intellectual generations in the art. Great basics classes. Safe environment emotionally & physically for all kinds of people.

A very interesting and accepting group of people committed to the Art of Aikido. I joined the dojo as a beginner when I was sixty. I've had nothing but support and encouragement from the members. I'll probably never test for a black belt rank but the camaraderie of the dojo, the concentration required to master this form and the sheer joy of rolling around the mat make the journey more important than the destination. Aikido is a subtle martial art that admits upfront it will take a lifetime to master. It's never too late to get started.

I first began training at Aikido of Madison in 1993 and continued to train there until moving in 2005. To train for such a long time is not unusual at this dojo and is an indication of the quality of instruction and supportive community one finds here. I have had occasion to visit Aikido dojos across the United States and internationally. I have also attended seminars with numerous instructors, may of whom were direct students of the founder of the art. The quality of instruction at Aikido of Madison equals what can be found at the best dojos anywhere.
