“I initially sought out care for a rotator cuff issue after an ortho surgeon suggested I move forward with surgery. I thought it was worth my time to try physical therapy first, and I'm very glad I chose VITA to assist with the issue. I worked with Brad and Andy for almost 3 months and with their expertise and encouragement on my not-so-good days, the issue has resolved. I completed my treatment June 20, 2023.I'm 67 years old woman with 43+ years as an R.N., my body went through much wear and tear. I had a spinal fusion in 1999 which was successful, but I knew over time I could have some issues. Two years ago I started having extreme pain in my hips, knees and feet. I would come home from work go to bed with ice packs on my knees and cried, I used a cane to get around the house. I only used my tylenol extra strength for work, fearing I would take too much. “I was referred by the Pain Management Center at the Medical College of WI for chronic neck and back pain with deconditioning. We were going to try a therapy called "dry needling." Ryan, my physical therapist, says my description might scare people so I'll let you Google it for the scientific explanation :+)I've had about four or five appointments and it's going well. I'm not magically cured, but "dry needling" has worked to relax muscles in my neck that feel like they have been contracted for years. The tired, achy, burning pain has improved. Because the muscles are more relaxed, I can perform the "homework" stretches; whereas, in the past, I'd just look at the therapist (who obviously did NOT suffer from chronic pain) and laugh knowing I'd NEVER do those exercises because they'd CAUSE more muscle spasms!So I'm grateful for "dry needling," at least so far, even though it's no picnic, and (even though I tell Ryan that I curse him to hell and back the day after my treatment) I'm grateful for Ryan, the Jedi Master of dry needling, and his young Padawan, Adam. Nicole is in charge of making sure I show up on the right day at the right time (and probably so much more that I'm unaware of), which seems simple, but is a tall order. She's always ready with a ? smile. The place is clean, which is important!! Overall, I'd DEFINITELY recommend them to my friends and family.“
