I've been doing business with Gary and Brian at AA Carb Shop for several years now and fully trust their honest and reliable work. Pretty much the only place I go for vehicle work.
I just had them replace the starter in my old Mitsubishi Montero. They were fast, fair, and reasonable. I called to ask them if they could get to it as my son needed to use the rig. They called around to see if the part was available, then got back to me with a price quote. I had a tow truck drop off the vehicle and they got it finished less than six hours later, at the price quoted. They took my credit card info to pay the bill so I didn't have to come in, and my son picked up the rig. Very nice to deal with! I couldn't have asked for better service or price.
After less than favorable experiences with nickle and diming as well as inaccurate diagnostics and repairs from Autometrics and Steve Hann's Auto Repair respectively, a kind neighbor recommended Gary as a "stellar mechanic" who "treats women fairly" and "doesn't screw people around". I brought my '98 Honda CRV in to Gary for repairs after the timing belt broke (with all the chaos that causes the engine), and after my experience, I have to agree... Gary is a gem! He only repairs what is needed, explains the full pros/cons of any additional recommendations, and stands behind his work. He saved me over $2,000 from the quoted repairs from Autometrics. Whew. While I personally appreciate the high-touch over high-tech when it comes to trusting my mechanic - car repairs will be done efficiently, effectively, and for a fair price -some possible cons are that he is pretty old school - i.e. the garage is a garage (no fancy facilities or waiting area), doesn't have a website, email, or an answering machine, and still uses hand written estimates and receipts (so you may need to ask him to translate his chicken scratch-lol). But if you're not super picky about that stuff - go for Gary!
