We had three companies do estimates on trimming of a big maple. Sam's came in $1,000 less than the other 2, did a fantastic job and cleaned up nicely! Amazing!!!

Long story short, Sam is extremely fair in his pricing, and remarkably proactive to get things done on a quick timeline. With all construction projects, scheduling is everything. With a project for my first rental property, I planned the site to leave all existing trees, to save cost, but also because I liked the trees. The plan was to have a new driveway be placed between mature trees, leaving just enough room away from the trees to allow them to continue growing. Because I did not plan on cutting any trees, I didn't think I needed to call The Department of Urban Forestry. Rookie mistake. Apparently that department has to review all new construction projects and give their input. Ignorant to that, I didn't call them, but the day we were ready to pour the driveway, someone from their department showed up, and in an offended and upset state, informed me I couldn't pour any concrete till I had removed two trees. The logic being, the new driveway would "shock" the trees, and "might" eventually kill them, so better to cut them down now. I called three companies, and Sam was the most responsive. Explaining my situation, he came that same day to look at it, and was able to get a permit that same day to remove the trees. He couldn't come the next day, but at 8:00 am two days after I called him, his team arrived, and they were wonderful to work with, and were helpful in protecting the driveway area from wood chips, which there were a lot of. They did an excellent job of diverting "organics" from the gravel and area prepared for the driveway. They were done by 11:00 am. Then, the "Right of Way" inspector for the city also showed up, and informed me that I have to replace the sidewalk where the trees had been, and as the oldest tree was 90 years old, it had heaved the sidewalk. In looking at the roots, it was decided that a third tree had to be removed, and once again Sam was on it super fast. He came the same day I called him to look at it. He gave me a price, it was extremely fair. That was a Friday I believe, and on Monday morning he came and the tree was gone, enabling my contractor's team to get busy on the new forms for the sidewalk. Sam helped my contractor stay on schedule as much as possible, to where we were able to take advantage of a small window of warm weather, and get the driveway poured. A cold snap set in, delaying the sidewalk, but everything Sam did put us back on schedule, and the only things to set us back was the weather, not waiting on anybody, which was absolutely remarkable. I highly recommend working with Sam, and everyone at the city, as well as his competitors only had good things to say about him. For the initial rush to remove the two trees, Sam's bid was right in the middle of the other two, but his speed in jumping on it is what won him the job. I highly recommend him and his team. All of this work was done in the month of February.

Sam's crew Andrew, Nick, Kris, Brendan, Logan, Nate, and Matt came out to cut down a large pine about 100 feet tall. They were professional, kind and so much more than I expected. They cleaned up all the branches and removed an Ivy root stump that I had been struggling with to remove. These the ones you want to remove large or small trees.
