Finding care for my natural hair in Seattle had been a challenge for a few years. Enter a news story about Jackie and Six17 Salon, several weeks of waiting to get an appointment, and - months later - a very happy customer! My first appointment I was a little overwhelmed. Jackie shared a lot of tips with me, answered a stream of questions I had, and sent me on my way. I got a lot of compliments on my medium size flat twists and got energized to go back again. I wrestled with leaving this review. We all have bad hair appointments sometimes, and it’s not in my character to disparage small businesses, let alone one owned by a Black woman. I decided to write this because I think it’s important for others to consider.
On April 21, I visited Six17 Salon for a regular trim + wash and go. After I left and could better see the results, I was very disappointed. Compare what I’ve uploaded to Google results for short wash and gos on men.
