Dr. Guojun Duan is a very professional and adept acupuncturist. Every four of five years I have a problem with my right knee freezing up. In two sessions she took care of the problem.I went to two other supposed acupuncturists in Seattle who did not help my knee. But Dr. Duan is a true acupuncturist. The way I know is because I once had to go to the Chinese Institute in London to deal with my right knee.. The man who worked on my knee had only been in the country a month and didn't speak a word of English. I take his method to be the true Chinese acupuncture method. And Dr. Duan did exactly as he did. Thank you, Dr. Duan. I felt in very professional hands with Dr. Duan. I will glzdly go back whenever I need to.
Drs. Guojun Duan and Jianfeng Yang have provided superb service to me for over 30 years. I rediscovered Dr. Yang after he left the Northwest Institute for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (it closed, sadly), and set up his private practice (offices are on Holman Road and on Cedar St., downtown). Dr. Duan joined him, bringing her extensive knowledge of acupuncture and training in herbal medicine. These providers have been my "go to" experts when dealing with depression, stress, menopause, back pain, allergies (and related sinus infections). For several weeks in spring and early summer, they helped me heal from a badly broken nose. On March 23 I headed downstairs in the middle of the night and slipped trying to avoid a cat. That sent me careening off a window frame, hitting my head hard on the wooden frame (nearly knocking me out), then BLAM! I hit the hardwood floor face first. I was only able to get one thumb out to stop my fall, so you can imagine what a toll the spill took on my face. Between 3/23/17 and 7/1/17, these acupuncturists worked wonders. A break like mine typically heals within 6 months, and I had to have my nose reset after 12 days to fix the telescoping bone and realign segments. Despite that surgery in the midst of treatment, Dr. Yang and Dr. Duan used a combination of acupuncture and herbs to reduce swelling, speed healing, and restore me to good health. Before a month was up, I was venturing out with a little face makeup, without worrying that people might think me a monster. By the first week in May, I was almost good as new. I have never met such knowledgeable, gentle practitioners who truly put their patients first. On more than one occasion, I left with special food they had prepared to facilitate my healing, as well as fresh fruit they had grown themselves. I was truly blessed to be under the care of these excellent Doctors of Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. Don't be afraid to try acupuncture. If you or your friends have sports injuries, problem from auto accidents, or want to make important lifestyle changes, Drs. Duan and Yang can help. Be prepared, however, as some points may be momentarily uncomfortable, but the sensation abates quickly, once the blocked energy flows again. Keep in mind that some conditions benefit from a longer time with the needles in place than one hour. Discuss with the acupuncturists how long your appoint will be, so you can be fully informed about the cost. The longer treatments are worth the investment in your health!
