Amazing location! I was able to let loose and relax in the beautiful sunlit garden. I didn’t know such peace existed until visiting this location. If you are in the fence about booking, you need to be like Nike and just do it! You won’t regret it.
Leaving the city, with all of it’s noise and traffic, we headed north to a quiet garden retreat. Once you reach the Castle Rock exit, you can tell you’ve entered an unique community with its mix of farmland and cottage living. Do not miss a nice stroll through the downtown area, where you might even stop for an afternoon cider at the local brewery. When you arrive at Stillmeadows Gardens and Retreat, you can tell the owner cares a great deal about their property and has invested a lot in the gorgeous landscaping. Be prepared to enter the gardens and transport yourself into a calming environment. Upon entering the home, you have the warm and soothing smell of the fire, the crackling sound in the background as you learn the details of your stay from the host. We received a tour of the property as well as an orientation of the guest room we stayed in. The home itself has a small kitchen facility but appeared nicely stocked. The bathroom was super clean and plenty towels for showering. I really liked the common room between guest rooms. I could easily see myself meeting another traveler in that space for a glass of wine. The guest room had a beach theme and while I’m a good two hours from the ocean, I get a soothing feeling from the room and it’s garden setting. You definitely get a sense that you are to destress in this space and consider your creative side. After settling in, I sat listening to the birds chirp and play in the trees just outside the room until darkness. The guest room offers two sitting chairs that make this event possible for a couple seeking a moment of peace. Later, I was able to access the WiFi and find a local pizza place for dinner. If you’re lucky enough to have the place all to yourself, don’t hesitate to spend the whole evening with your loved one soaking in the hot tub and relieving the week of aches in the sauna. My favorite part of our stay was morning coffee in the hot tub. This is a true “hot” tub, which is wonderfully therapeutic. This garden helps you find your true retreat. I was very impressed with my stay and would recommend it for any city escape.
