This was a magically relaxing experience. After a 5 day migraine, a rough week and solo parenting a 3 year old for a week, I was feeling really rough when my Mom suggested a session at MPath Well-being. I wasn’t sure as I’ve never done reflexology and frankly- I struggle to relax enough to do a full massage. But this was incredible. I managed to get relaxed enough to doze. I slept better last night than I have in MONTHS and was able to nap today. This is 10/10 experience. Melanie is amazing.
This barn and the teachers here have become a place my heart calls home. After several years off from riding, I was looking to get horses back in my life again, but had no interest in competitive sport and was searching for a journey with a teacher who takes a slower, more holistic approach to the partnership between human and horse. New Moon Ranch focuses on truly understanding horse behavior and language to listen to what they have to tell us, and boy they have a lot to say. Horses are amazing teachers that can help us to understand ourselves, build trust, and grow confidence. The environment here is casual and I love the down-to-earth nature and the judgement-free sense of belonging. An emphasis is placed on natural horsemanship and the guidance to simply ride for pleasure (the low-pressure, fun part!). Many of the horses are ridden with bareback pads, which I've really really enjoyed using to practice balance. The barn itself is in a beautiful setting along the Huntington River, where the trickle of water, birds singing, and breeze on your face offers a sense of peace that seems harder and harder to find. The instructors/owners Lotta and Hollister are great. They have a special way with horses and teaching you connection to the animal you're making a team with. They are confident in their methods and teach you to be aware of your own state of physical being and mental energy to be the best communicator and partner you can. The other riders in the barn are also sweet and welcoming. I have finally found some healing and more meaning and joy in riding again. If this sounds like something you're interested in, I recommend these folks and trying out NMR.
We can't say enough good things about the Crate Escape. We have been relying on them for boarding and day care for all three of our dogs for several years and they are excellent. They are reliable, caring, fun and truly care about the wellbeing of the dogs. Their attention to detail is remarkable. When one of our dogs' friends stopped attending day care on regular bases, they called us to tell us when he was scheduled to attend, so we can coordinate and bring her in as well. The dogs always come home happy and tired after attending their day care. Recently we boarded two of our dogs there for ten days. They ended up having a medical emergency and the owner stayed with them until late that night at the emergency vet while communicating with us all along. Then they continued taking care of them at the Crate Escape until we returned from our trip. Like I said, they genuinely care about the dogs and go above and beyond to ensure their well-being. It means so much to know that we have a reliable care for our dogs when traveling and that we have the peace of mind that they will be well-taken care of while we are gone. Everyone there is so kind and caring, we strongly recommend the Crate Escape.
Spoiler alert: this is a glowing review of Nick Brooks and Vermont Cabinetworks. Between October 2016 and November 2017 Nick oversaw a to-the-studs renovation of our home in Richmond Village. Nick and his team converted a 1,500 SF three-bedroom “fixer upperâ€--a generous term for the starting point--built in 1900 into a timeless, human-centered, highly efficient home we will enjoy for years. Here's what sets Nick and Vermont Cabinetworks apart: Caring: Nick's remarkable commitment to our satisfaction defined our collaboration. He's invested in the long-term happiness of his clients, and from the very beginning of our work together (and even before we had a contract) Nick engaged us as co-creators of the finished product. It was choosing colors and materials, sure, but more importantly it's the little things that went far beyond our expectations, from calling on the first cold snap of winter to see how the house was doing, to coming back to the property after closing to help us install closet shelving, to acting as our unofficial ambassador to town. Craftsmanship: Nick is a perfectionist, and his high standards pervade his work. The curb appeal of the house is obvious the moment you step onto the property, but his attention to detail extends to the smallest aspects of the project. When the place was completed, we asked Nick to show us his favorite part of the structure. It was a minuscule piece of quarter-round that fit just so between two pieces of trim in a bathroom. No one but Nick will ever notice it (well, I guess we will too now) but it had to be just right to meet his standards. There's not a corner cut in the house. Intuition: Nick has a knack for marrying aesthetics and function. We've yet to find an element of the house that's not well thought out. From a kitchen layout in which we felt instantly at home, to built-in cabinets with a combination of open shelving and closed doors that allow us to display a few of our favorite pieces of art and hide the rest, to interior windows that share light and line of sight between spaces while keeping sound from bouncing through the small house, the place clicks. The relationship and finished product were so good that we feel a little jealous thinking of Nick working with other clients. But we highly recommend Nick and Vermont Cabinetworks. I have always been happy with the care and service my pets have received at RAH. I have been taking my pets there since 2001, and continued when I moved to a neighboring town. The staff are very caring, helpful, and knowledgeable. Pricing is also reasonable.
