I found a colony of homeless cats in an industrial area when I moved into Belmont Bay 12 years ago. At extremely low cost, they helped me with getting the cats fixed and all their shots. I kept 14 cats. I take them back annually for shots and flea treatments. They save me hundreds of dollars annually. They are great people who work extremely hard keeping the homeless cat population down. They also help low income people get their pets fixed and get their shots. Great organization!!!
We adopted two cats from A3P, which runs the Humane Society of Northern Virginia in Dumfries. One of the cats was still a kitten and had not been spayed. The shelter works with Pets Ltd. as one of the local providers for spay/neuter services when adopting an unaltered pet. (Note that this Pets Ltd. location is only open on Sundays and only works with pre-approved local organizations.) This location is extremely popular, as many TNR (trap-neuter-return) groups bring cats from local colonies to get fixed. Because of this, it took a few tries (arranged by A3P) to be able to bring our cat to be spayed. We followed the instructions for withholding food/water prior to the surgery. Early that morning, we received a message from A3P that Pets Ltd. would be able to fit our kitten in for her procedure. We met at the location at our appointment time later that day. Parking is tight there, but we found a spot and walked back to the trailer, with a couple of the resident cats greeting us along the way. We dropped off our kitten and picked her up that afternoon. In the week that followed, our kitten had a bump about the size of a bouncy ball develop over the incision. Although she wasn't showing any other concerning symptoms, we wanted a professional to check her out to be sure it wasn't anything serious. We communicated with A3P and they were able to get in contact with Pets Ltd. At the trailer, the organizer told us we would likely have to return if our kitten did need surgery, since they were quite busy with all the feral cats that morning. Thankfully, one of their vets was able to examine our kitten quickly and determined she was having a simple reaction to the sutures, which should resolve itself over time. It was a wonderful reassurance for us. Pets Ltd. is doing a wonderful service for our community by ensuring cat colonies don't grow out of control and supporting local shelters with their spay/neuter services.
We met the lovely people of Pets Ltd through high recommendations of other animal charities to get the feral cats in our area spayed and neutered! They all have hearts of gold and genuinely compassionate about cats. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful these people are. The low cost and high quality services they provided was very impressive! We all need to support local nonprofits like Pets Ltd. who does this amazing service to the communities that they serve and give a voice to animals who don't have a chance to get vet services that they need!!!!
