Finding Brandi has been a God send. Having a gymnast with an injury is hard, having a gymnast on the autism spectrum is….even harder. We have learned so much more than I could have ever imagined when I signed my daughter up to try and work on an injury. Brandi has been a wealth of knowledge and I’m truly feeling like everything has kinda just “clicked” for my daughter!
I really enjoyed your work as it was a comprehensive approach considering various psychological techniques like CBT ,ACT (using metaphors for example) and even DBT in addition to life skills that every athlete definitely needs to learn. There are parts that are associated with self awareness and it's connection to body function. Merging mental ,emotional and body experience together. One special thing I really like about the session was a question, what is the thing you do to feel as if you have done what you wanted, which is associated with the concept of satisfaction. Infact satisfaction is much more associated with mental health than happiness. CBT(Cognitive Behavioural Therapy ) ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) DBT (Dialectic Behavioural Therapy)
My daughter (14) is a competitive gymnast and has been seeing Brandi Smith for 2 years. We live in the DFW area and continue to drive periodically for in person appointments, but mostly utilize the virtual appointments. We have been blown away by the knowledge Brandi has, and the accuracy and flexibility of the virtual appointments. Brandi has helped my daughter physically with her hip pain, but also mentally and emotionally as she navigates the demanding sport of gymnastics. Brandi has consistently provided confidence and encouragement, as well as the physical demands to help my daughter continue to improve. We are so thankful for Brandi’s commitment to helping my daughter be the best gymnast, and the best all around person that she can be. She has supported her through each and every trial and triumph, and is always a tremendous reassurance for my daughter. Brandi has taught us so much about how the body works and how the brain and body work together. Her knowledge in physical therapy is unmatched.
