I was skeptical. For decades I used a barbershop just down the road. It had become dingy and unrenovated. An old train station style bench (sanitary?). Traffic near-suicide getting out of the duck-in lot with cars stacked up in 3 directions and a bums' rush at the greenlight. After a hundred cuts over the years I waited nearly an hour while the barbers yapped. I walked out uncut, for good. I entered the MSH shop. 6 minute walk-in wait, 20 min and out. Spacious. New hygienic chairs with armrests. Safe parking lot a few spaces from my grocery shopping. Cheaper cost (no yapping overhead. Life stories and marriage woes belong at the senior center and counseling office!! ). Best of all was my wife's compliment not knowing I changed barbers " You got the best haircut in years. They finally got your part right! "
I like that I've never had to wait, but I get a bald head and for that service I find it a little pricey! Also this trip my head was knicked and she didn't even say sorry!
Friendly couple . The cut was adequate, with a common minor, yet annoying imperfection that is only noticeable up close. There was also a frustrating miscommunication ... that led to getting a somewhat different cut than I asked for. I took the time to show him 6 photos of the "drop fade" (like a very short buzz mullet / fauxhawk in the back) that's becoming popular. I even traced it out on the back of my head for him and twice repeated "guard 1 on the sides ONLY, longer in the back ." This somehow REALLY appeared to confuse him and I could tell he was very reluctant to do it. After I spent 2 minutes explaining and showing photos the first thing he asks before he starts cutting is "you want it 1 on the sides?" But he traced his finger all the way around, so I thought to myself "he must have unintentionally traced his finger around the back because why would he immediately ask me if I wanted to eliminate the feature I spent so much time showing and telling!?!" So I am partly to blame for not triple checking by asking him why he touched the part i just told him not to. --HOWEVER-- I REALLY appreciated & loved the straight razor & hot towel & quick head rub at the end which was unexpected. Although he didn't use shave cream so some of my skin was "freaking out" and kinda red from razor burn for a couple hours. Also, Unfortunately, their CCard machine had an aneurysm and i had to walk to get some cash. Hopefully that's not ongoing problem.
