Shippers' Choice - CDL Training School is one of the best CDL training providers in Virginia. Their training program consists of both in-class instruction and hands-on truck driving practice. They also offer job placement assistance, with most students receiving up to 10 job offers before graduation. The training takes approximately 20 days, and all DMV testing is conducted on-site at the Shippers' Choice training center, which is the only DMV-approved Commercial Drivers License examiner. The instructors at Shippers' Choice are knowledgeable, patient, and go above and beyond to ensure students have the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed. They make the learning process enjoyable and engaging, and students praise the school's excellent training and the instructors' ability to provide guidance and encouragement, even when faced with challenges. Every instructor is very helpful; no matter if a student struggles with any part of training, they will be helped personally. Omar and Carlos are among the best trainers, and the staff’s dedication is highly appreciated. Jose, who handles classroom work, is a great guy with a lot of previous driving experience. He provides real-world situations during lessons. Mr. Li, who teaches maneuvers outside, is more hands-off but does a good job explaining when and where to look for successful turns. Jose also reviewed the Pre Trip inspection after classroom sessions, emphasizing that learning it depends on individual effort. Students are encouraged to study with classmates, which helps a lot, especially during maneuvers. The equipment used for learning isn’t the best for automatic exams, so it’s wise to get a road session with Jose, who teaches most before the exam. The school is not set up to make students fail; many students pass on their first try by making good use of their time on site.
