So, let me set the record straight for the people who want to complain. This is an "On-Demand" bridge. That means it is opened when a boat calls for it to be opened. Pretty cool bridge over the Jame River. It definitely has history. It is a short bridge. It has a green color to it kinda makes me think about the Statue of Liberty. There are some beautiful properties on both sides. The bridge is two lanes.

This bridge near Hopewell crosses the James River and is a cool, subdued green color. It's about a mile long, but it seemed longer as the bridge is in disrepair. VDOT is working on it! Named after signer of the Declaration of Independence, and Gov. of Virginia who once lived at Berkeley Planation, this fascinating metal drawbridge is an engineering marvel. Nesting boxes for peregrine falcons are attached on the bridge in an effort to help these endangered birds and other birds too! Now that's something to shake your feathers at! Applause applause!!
