I had been to KP to see my PCP who suggested I take pain and muscle medications and told me to put a heated pad on the area of pain. None of which seemed to work. I've never had acupuncture done and I thought it would be a charlatan procedure. I am dealing with a possible Sciatic Nerve/Piriformis injury. I went to First Chiropractic & Acupuncture VERY SKEPTICAL, to be honest. I was very grumpy and in extreme pain, and unable to tie and untie my shoes. The receptionist was very nice and the doctor ( I call him Doc since I used to be in the military) recommended a few procedures based on his knowledge that he felt would work for me. I chose one that I was comfortable with and was led to a private room laid down on my stomach and the Doc began to insert needles into certain areas of my back. It didn’t even hurt. As a matter of fact, I noticed my pain level begin to drop down from a 10 to a 2.5 as I thought to myself “OK this seems to be working so far”. Then the Doc added mild electroshock therapy and an infrared lamp to the regime. I was totally comfortable that I began to fall asleep. I was checked on about 15 minutes into my session by the assistant and then the Doc checked on me to make sure I was comfortable. He suggested that we increase the electroshock therapy intensity a little bit more and I was completely fine with that. After the session was over the Doc came in and removed all the acupuncture needles and electroshock pads turned off the infrared lamp and closed the door to the room to allow me to get out of the shorts he provided and back into my long pants. The real test here for me was am I going to be able to bend over in the chair and tie my shoes. To my surprise, I put on both of my shoes and tied the laces myself without having to ask for assistance! I was so happy and relieved that I booked 5 more sessions to aid in my recovery. I had a session today and it was just as calm and relaxing as my very first one. I am now a believer in acupuncture and would highly recommend First Chiropractic & Acupuncture in Centreville if with Lee S. Park, D.C., if conventional Western Medicine has let you down.
