“After having a "not so great" experience with our master bathroom remodel, we proceeded with caution when selecting a contractor to build our home gym. It was a frustrating process that we refused to rush, and it ended up taking us months before we felt we had found "the one." We were shocked at how often we felt that we were burdening contractors to quote us for the work. It would take weeks sometimes to get someone out, get a quote, get answers to our follow up questions, etc. Simply put, we didn't feel comfortable paying thousands of dollars to companies with subpar customer service.Along came Nick of Jaber Construction. “Colonial Contracting Inc. (CCI) has been AMAZING to work with. Specifically Eric Martin and Joe Salubaugh!!! First off, I reached out to them after we experienced hail damage due to a hail storm during summer of 2022 and they helped us immensely with coordinating the claim with our home insurance company, Erie. Erie, of course initially denied our claim and CCI responded by coming out and doing all the diligence of taking pictures, videos, and documenting everything we needed in order to push back on Erie's initial assessment. After an initial few months of unresponsiveness on the part of Erie, they finally approved our claim for a mere fraction of the total damage. We then spent many more months "battling" with Erie in order to be fully compensated for the full damage done by hail. CCI held our hands every step of the way, spent many hours working with us and provided all the necessary documentation that we could then forward on to Erie in full support of our claim. After over 9 months of battling with Erie, they finally approved the full amount of our loss, and this was attributed 100% to the good work that Eric and his team did. They stuck with every step along the way.

Once we got the project kicked off, which consisted of roofing, siding, gutters, downspouts, and metal wrapping around exterior wood trims and fascia, Eric and Joe were fully accessible every step along the way. They managed the project from start to finish and worked with the subcontractors to ensure quality work. Even when we ran into some issues with the work (which were very few and far between) Eric was extremely responsive and made everything right without excuse or hesitation.

We had been needing to replace our basic old deck which existed when we purchased the home. We needed not only something new but we wanted something solidly built and designed to make more sense of our yard space to increase better traffic flow and functionality. With our basic wants/desires, Josue drew up plans that fit what we were looking for. As the project started and progressed, Josue discovered existing problems that really needed to be corrected and we agreed to proposed modifications to the scope of work to include other add-ons that just enhanced the overall project. “A kitchen remodel initiated by sub-floor movement turned into a transformation of "this old house"! There were so many unknowns at the first meeting with Tom. Each challenge was gradually exposed and the layers, all the way down to the soil, revealed additional components to the project (which added the adjoining 2 rooms). Opening a loadbearing wall had only been a dream, but Tom and his guys, Jon and Daniel, overcame ALL of the structural issues and were able to make it happen. The conditions were really rough for them in the middle of the process, but never a complaint, actually only singing! The timing was spot on, even with the extra repairs. Through the "change orders" of correcting the unknown issues as they arose, Dawn was extremely thorough with communication via email so there were NO financial surprises. Description of work:
We had interior and exterior painting done, drywall repairs, wood rot repair, pressure washing of our foundation done before painting. Interior painting: kitchen (walls, ceiling, trim, doors), morning room (trim, walls), 2 story living room, including trim and doors, foyer area, stairwell, and master bath ceiling painted. We had many areas throughout the house that needed drywall repairs: cracking along the drywall tape, nail pops, cracks, chips, etc. We had exterior painting done: metal roofs over bay windows, bay windows painted, front door, foundation brick repainted. We had a door that had some wood rot and it had also been chewed a bit by a puppy that he fixed and made look new. Beautiful work and I am a perfectionist myself. It was worth every penny.“
