Highly recommend. I have a friend who is very trendy and fashion forward, and her hair looked fantastic so I asked for a recommendation (how I found Kris). I am not trendy and I don't keep up with things so I was a bit nervous despite asking. I've now been going for five years, and my hair has always looked fantastic after seeing Kris! I ask for "low maintenance " and she always delivers. I see her every 7-8 months (if not longer) due to the quality of her cuts. I'm moving overseas and asked for something that would really wear well over time, and my gosh did she deliver. This is the best cut I've ever received. My hair air dries and looks great. I just show up and when she asks what we are doing today I say "I don't know, I trust you!" And she has never let me down. Can't give Kris a higher recommendation!!

When you find a hair and makeup artist you love, you've hit the jackpot. Kris, owner of Grit Studio in Alexandria, is a stylist I can count on any time I book. I've seen Kris for about the past year for blowouts and makeup applications for a variety of events, photo shoots and theater performances. Kris listens carefully to the service you want. Whenever I've shown reference photos, she re-creates them flawlessly. With makeup, I love the lash application she includes and the long-staying wear of the makeup products she applies. She's also extremely efficient, and after the first visit, she perfected my look and made each subsequent appointment easy, quick and simple. I recently visited for a headshot package she offered, where a professional photographer took new photos in her studio after I received hair and makeup treatment. I really appreciated Kris during the shoot, as she offered tips for posing and even touched up my hair and clothing to help me get the perfect shots. Her vast experience as an editorial stylist and big event artist (weddings, glam, etc.) has really provided her with an expert eye that made the photo shoot even more successful. If you're looking for hair and makeup you can trust to look great, I'd highly recommend Kris in Alexandria.

Visiting from CA for a family Thanksgiving gathering. Utilizing yelp, I narrowed it down to Grit Studio and did make an appoint with Kris a few weeks in advance my arrival. The entire experience was excellent!!! Friendly, very experienced and my blow out was perfect. Frankly, it was better than my stylist at home in CA... Highly, highly recommend.
