Wanted to write because we had a great experience. The folks who worked with us, Julian, Charlie and their helpers did a great job with workmanship and communication. We contracted through Home Depot. We especially appreciated Charlie and Julian's guidance when re-doing the master bath because being an older house, there were water issues we didn't see that he did and was able to fix and avoid in the future with the new construction. Also appreciated that when problems did arise, they were addressed literally within minutes via text or phone call and then a solution. We will be calling them again when our next project comes up.

Bathtub contractor bait and switch or Incompetent Home Depot department? The contractor Alward Co, aka Construxure, was scheduled through Home Depot to complete a removal and installation of a bathtub. After arriving and surveying the work area, the contractor representative asked me to sign a change order for over a thousand dollars to have the tile removed and installed, saying this work wasn't explicitly stated in the contract. That's over a thousand dollars extra to remove and install the bottom row of tile, and 3x3 foot section of tile on the side wall for a regular-sized bathtub. She asked for my credit card and asked me to sign a change order hastily drawn on the original contract.Home Depot wrote up the order very generally as "tub removal/install/debris removal" so I assumed the tile removal/install was included in the contract, since you need to remove tile in order to remove the bathtub.I believed the contractor understood this when they accepted the contract, but apparently not.Again, I'm not saying this was a bait and switch, but the contractor should've clarified with Home Depot what exactly it was we paid them to do before accepting the contract.I am blaming Home Depot for not managing this work order correctly because they did not list the specific work I needed done and then price it accordingly. In addition, the work lasted three days (because the company didn't bring a tile cutter and other issues) and there was no follow-up afterward from the person who came with the change order about whether I was satisfied with the work. Conclusion: No communication between Home Depot and Alward Co, and they were not prepared for the work.

I contracted with the Alward Corporation for renovating my kitchen. The experience was excellent. The office staff arrived on day one and walked me and the work crew through the contract detail by detail. Communication throughout the job was great--called at the end of the work day every day to ask how the job was going and if I had any concerns/questions. The work crew was polite, professional, efficient. They checked with me as the work progressed if options presented themselves so I could direct them how I wanted an item to be done. The inspection after completion found a few minor details to fix and they were done well. Job well done!
