Five Star Plus Review We began this odyssey about eight months ago. A neighbor was getting a new roof due to hail damage from June 2023, and the sales rep looked across to my roof and came over and rang our bell to tell me I had damage too. A quick inspection confirmed it, but as is my habit before buying anything pricey I called up the three highest rated roofing companies near us to schedule inspections. They all three told me more or less exactly the same things, so without even asking for an estimate I chose the company with the rep I liked best - Trey Jones, Summit Roofing. He was laid back and low-key, very informative about their roofing process, and honest in warning me about what might be expected from the insurance company, Encompass. "Delay, Deny, Defend.” There’s a longer backstory, but in fact Encompass was absolutely determined not to pay. I could tell from the first time I spoke to the Encompass adjuster on the phone, before he had even seen our roof! Trey warned me it could take six months, and explained the steps we might have to go through to get the job done. Glad he did. Encompass even threw in two extra wrinkles Trey had rarely heard of; they were doing everything they could legally to make me give up in despair. Including phone messages threatening to contravene Texas law, though they wouldn’t put that in emails! I wanted to quit. I was losing sleep over it, but Trey responded to every email or phone call patiently, and introduced me to their Appraiser early on (we did have to send the Demand of Appraisal letter - twice). He was a comforting ally for half a year. Encompass lost. We won. This is the fifth new roof I’ve gotten out of a hailstorm - ’85, ’87, and 2002 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and 2009 and 2023 in Cedar Park. Used to be the insurance company was your friend, and I never had to know about the negotiations between them and the roofers. It’s a different world now. Oh, the new roof is beautiful, by the way. When we moved in back in 2005 I painted the trim and siding sections of out stone house with two colors I custom blended to match the Driftwood shingles on the roof. Different brand of shingles this time, and their version matches my custom trim paint even better than before. Summit has been super professional in every respect, totally 21st Century. Call them first after any serious hail and get on the list right away. If it’s an insurance claim, you’ll pay the same no matter who you use. And ask for Trey Jones, if you can get him. He doesn’t quit.
We recently discovered some storm damage to our roof and the first thing we did was call insurance and then immediately after we called Summit Roofing. Augustus from Summit came out the same day and got the damaged area covered and protected and checked for any other damage that maybe we couldn't see as this has been a stormy spring. The roof that they installed 2 years ago looks really good and he could see no other signs of concerns. We are already on the books for a repair. As always we are so grateful for the professionalism, honesty and hard work that we receive from this company time and time again.
