Long wait times and crowded waiting room. Very short time with Dr. and very rude doctors because they are rushed. I've waited over two hours TWO times and saw the doctor for LESS THAN five minutes each time. LITERALLY! The doctors might be knowledgable, but they're apparently more interested in booking patients and making them spend an entire day for an eye appointment than booking fewer and making it convenient for their patients. This is the time of Covid, yet they pack their waiting rooms with elderly patinets and NO ONE, not even staff, is required to wear a mask and social distancing is impossible. They care NOTHING for the health and welfare of their patients and apparently too much about money, because seeing probably over a 100 patients a day for two to three minutes and not caring that they might be potentially exposing them to serious disease is what appears to be their business protocol.
I first came here on July 28, 2022 when I had some visual disturbances. I saw Dr. Christina Bui who assured me that what I was seeing was the result of an ocular migraine, and was probably just an aura, and nothing to worry about. She said it would get better and if I had any more I should just try to relax and maybe do some yoga. She also suggested that I see my primary care physician and maybe a neurologist about some medication that could help with the ocular migraine. I followed up with my PCP, and I tried some medications, but none of them worked. The problem didn't get any better (it got worse, actually), so I went back two weeks later, and she said that what I had was a detached retina. Pretty sad to learn that I'd been walking around for two weeks with a detached retina. She did the right thing and she called around to try and find me an appointment with someone who could see me that day. Approximately 20 minutes later she came in and told me that if I could make it to Retina Consultants in San Antonio they would see me. They weren't actually able to see me that day, but I'll post a separate review for them. I don't know what Dr. Bui's level of experience is, but I was under the impression that she had been practicing for many years. I probably would not see her again, especially not for something outside of a routine eye exam.I also want to mention that when I made the initial appointment, they answered the phone and when I said I wanted to schedule an appointment, they asked me to hold, and then another person answered and asked me who my insurance provider was. They didn't tell me they were transferring me to someone else. Then that person argued with me about who my insurance coverage was with. It seemed pretty strange.
I do not usually do this, I understand things happen that can cause issues with customer service however, this was by far the worst service I've ever had in trying to book an appointment. I had to give them my insurance information 6 different times, had to have my insurance carrier call, had to wait two days for an answer back all to find out that they did not take my general insurance. I am having severe issues with my vision that usually dictact emergency appointments and could have seen someone else by now but trusted some of the other reviews. I am disappointed for not only that but that I and was not treated with respect or kindness.
