“Ben at Beyond the Dog was an amazing trainer. We had bitten off more than we could chew with our husky-mix rescue, Nyx. She came to us completely untrained at about a year old. She was destructive, not a good listener, and overwhelmed our other dog. It became apparent we needed help to get her acclimated to our home and to our mini-Aussie, Titan. We checked many sources and Beyond the Dog was the best fit for us, as they come to the home and work with the dogs in their environment. Ben took our chaos goblin and turned her into a lovely pet with appropriate boundaries. She's still a husky mix, so she doesn't like following the rules, but she'll do it! Best of all, Ben helped us work with Titan as well, who was always extremely wary of visitors. Ben's expertise was such that he picked up on the overall problems that both our pets experienced and addressed them both individually and together. Having guests used to be painful, now our dogs are both polite and at ease.

As word of advice, if your dog's behavioral issues relate to people, you may need to have friends, co-workers, or neighbors available to stop by during your training sessions so that your dog(s) can interact with them. This service is absolutely worth it, but the owners need to be willing to participate and learn the processes that are being used for continual success.

Finally, a few thoughts on Ben and Beyond the Dog's approach for training. Ben had great rapport with our dogs, even our keyed-up little Aussie, but knew when to be firm as well. Both Beyond the Dog's and Ben emphasize positive reinforcement as the primary means of motivation. This was a major selling point for us as we're leery of more aggressive/punitive approaches to training. Ben was very reliable and an excellent communicator for upcoming scheduling as well as recapping the week's lessons. We had no shortage of resources, and still have the ability to ask questions as needed. We are so happy we chose Beyond the Dog for our pets.“

Paige took excellent care of our good girl and made the time to consult with us about our specific preferences prior to grooming. “This is a lovely facility! The unlimited package is a fantastic deal and they even can include pick up and drop off services if requested. The staff is always extremely considerate and clearly love the dogs under their care. The facility is always super clean and there are multiple people keeping an eye on the dogs at all times. The staff to dog ratios ensure that it's never overcrowded or unsafe. They provide daily report cards detailing how my dog's day has gone, who she made friends with, and they even include photos, videos, and personal comments. I love watching my dog play on the many live camera feeds they provide. All the dogs must undergo an evaluation to ensure that they are healthy, friendly, and well-adjusted dogs. For my dog who loves nothing more than playing with other dogs, this is the perfect safe alternative to potentially unsafe public dog parks. This has absolutely become my dog's favorite place. She loves coming here, loves the staff, and seems to have quickly become fast friends with several of the other dogs. For me, this has been the perfect solution for keeping my high-energy dog happy and healthy while I recover from an injury. Despite my dog usually being quite nervous with new places and people, she always immediately abandons me in favor of coming here. She gets full body wiggles when she gets picked up for the dog valet/school bus service. I think if I stopped bringing her here she would mutiny. While I had originally planned to leave my dog with Unleashed Retreat for daycare just while I recover from my injury, it's become clear to me that we will continue to be frequent monday-friday visitors. I cannot recommend this place enough!“
